sf_mom Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Again, I am so sorry about the back pain... Did it start due to movement or did it creep up on you from an ache? Have you tired ice yet? You might want to consider taking that Horowitz appointment for yourself instead of your daughter..... especially with the back and hip pain. -Wendy
NancyD Posted November 18, 2010 Author Report Posted November 18, 2010 That's exactly what I'm thinking, Wendy! I bent down Monday morning to pick up something and I felt a horrible shooting pain in my back right where you bend over. It went from 0 to 100 in two seconds. Never had a problem there in my back before. Two weeks prior I had joint pain and stiffness in both knees and hips. Ice does help a bit. Again, I am so sorry about the back pain... Did it start due to movement or did it creep up on you from an ache? Have you tired ice yet? You might want to consider taking that Horowitz appointment for yourself instead of your daughter..... especially with the back and hip pain. -Wendy
lyme_mom Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 When the cd57 is good they suspect coinfections like bartonella, babesia, etc. Hope you feel better soon!
Suzan Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Oh Nancy, your results look much like mine did! I am sorry you are in so much pain! Trust me, I understand {{HUGS}} Susan
sf_mom Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Nancy, I found this interesting and since you are positive for band 45....... Band 45 cross-reactive for all Borellia (sometimes people with Lyme who have this band positive also have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis). -Wendy
NancyD Posted November 20, 2010 Author Report Posted November 20, 2010 Thanks Susan, Lyme mom, and Wendy! I took DD14 to see her doctor in NY yesterday (8 hours of driving with excruciating pain in my back and hip). Thank you, Wendy, for sending me your great tip re ice. I drove most of the way there with an ice pack wrapped around my back and hip. That really helped. The worst part was trying to keep my eyes open. My daughter slept for the first few hours and I was so afraid I was going to drive off the road. I was so sleepy -- my eyes kept closing. Soon as my DD woke up I told her to start talking about anything and don't stop until we get to NY! Amazingly, our doctor (who never gets a cancellation) just got a cancellation for two hours after he was to see my DD. So he was able to see me too. After going there for so many years it was mighty strange for me to be a patient there too. He upped her D to 5000/day, increased her Theralac, and added in magnesiun glycinate, adrenal companion (rhodiola), Transfer Factor LymPlus, and Springreen No. 77 Detoxificant (bentonite) to what she was already taking. He decided to start pulsing her Azithro and Tindamax (4 days Azithro, 3 days Tindamax)...YEAH!! After her visit she did another glutathione/NAC IV. For me, he agreed that we needed to test for other co-infections (thanks, Wendy, for posting that info re band 45 and Lyme mom for posting that comment about CD57 being normal) so I will get tested on Monday when I see my internist. He also wanted me to have my back and hip xrayed just in case that is not related to the LD (my mother's spine is pretty deteriorated -- the doctors told her it's amazing that she can walk -- although she is 84). Doctor put me on doxycycline twice daily and ordered a bunch of tests. He upped my D to 5000/day and added in Theralac, Homocystrol + TMG, Saccharomycees Boulardil, and Transfer Factor LymPlus to supplements I was already taking. While DD's treatment is much more aggressive, he is doing it slow and easy for me (JUST THE WAY I WANTED IT!!!! ) We'll do a phone consult in one month. I REALLY love our doctor!!! Today I am feeling achy and I have sweats. Also brain fog has set in! It took me two hours to lay out DD's pills and my pills into weekly pill containers. That's something I used to do really fast. kim Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Nancy..you can throw me in the pile of lower back and hip pain. I really think that the ligaments are affected which sets the stage for misalignment. I can't tell you how much chiropractic adjustment helped me almost immediately. I had to take vicodin to even stand up to get to the chiro. If you can get into someone before the holiday, you might be spared a lot of agony. I had swelling that she could see and feel. Biofreeze and ice helped after the adjustments too. Also, make sure you sit on something firm, especially if you're spending a lot of "internet" time. Btwn the stress and what ever underlying things are happening, I think we are really sitting ducks for these problems!
NancyD Posted November 23, 2010 Author Report Posted November 23, 2010 Saw my PCP today -- she thinks I dislocated my T4 disk and she wants me to see a PT for ultrasound and light massage rather than a chiropractor. She offered me a script for vicodin (darn, I left there without it!) and said it would take 4-6 weeks to go back. Also said ice like everyone else and anti-inflammatories. I'm inclined to agree about going to a PT vs. Chiropractor for this. I've been to a chiropractor for muscle spasms and other back problems but I don't think I want that kind of manipulation on my back with these sharp pains.
