Healingthedude Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 I wanted to know from patients of Dr B Where do you get your high dose IVIG done? Do you go to the hospital in Stanford? At home? Will he send orders for you to have it done locally? I have a son with Autism and PANDAS (very hyperactive) and am trying to determine how to get this long protocol done with him ( 2 days 4-6 hour IV'S) and still have it overseen by a the immunologist. Any advice very much appreciated. We are about 2 hours away from his office. Carolyn
philamom Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 The infusions are done at his Darien location (infusion center).

The nurse who works in the infusion center is really fantastic with the kids in there. She is very attentive and caring. I can't say enough good things about her. We travel 6 hours to have it done there. I've thought about trying to have it done locally, but I've decided that knowing that we in in such good hands is worth the drive. We feel at home there and know that they will use every weapon in their arsenal to make sure she had as few side effects as possible and that she is comfortable.
lmkmip67 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Those that travel for it, is insurance covering it? I don't think mine would since it is out of state for us.

There is cable TV, reclining chair, blankets (not for the parents LOL) 6 hours is tough, the staff is great, you get through it. iPhone, Leapster, whatever your child's interests bring it, bring a big bag of snacks, you get through it.
