fiore
My 7yr daughter was on a combination of strattera and chlonidine. (plus fish oil, ginko, b complex, mag, etc.) It made life manageable, both with her tics and her ADD. Through much thought and regret, we took her off of the strattera due to the new info relating it to severe liver damage. Since then (2 weeks ago) the can of worms have been opened. Her mood and attention have just gone to pot. It already is affecting her work in school. When she was on the clonidine her work was very detailed and I didn't have issues with her doing her homework. Now, its like pulling teeth to get her to finish one page. And with that comes, the arguing, which brings on the tics. etc... In fact, now the chlonidine makes her sleepy were as when she was taking it with the strattera it did not. I'm feeling very lost. I have a stomach ache every morning not knowing what kind of kid I'm waking up each day. Sorry for rambling..... I have tried all the supplements (with diet) on my own with minimal results. I would like to hear from anyone who has used Bonnie's Bontech products. I don't want to go back to medication if I can help it. thanks for listening. Claire
Hi Fiore, I am not any expert on medicine withdrawal. ADD is especially tough! Have you considered consulting with one of the doctors listed at the top of this forum? For ADD, two things come to mind. One is adrenal exhaustion (just too tired to focus) and the other is pyroluria--creating a B6/zinc deficiency that interferes with concentration. Our doctor thinks that many of the same immune issues cause tics and ADD. So such treatments (metals/yeast/pyroluria/gluten issues...) can make a big difference. E.g. they test for casein/gluten issues as kids who can't digest these properly end up with some sort of dopamines which make their brain 'foggy'. Yeast issues can do the same. If you read these threads, you will get some good ideas. But given the meds you use, I would recommend a doctor to guide you in this. Chemar
Hi fiore yikes! so sorry to hear you are going thru this. I have never used Bonnie's products, only her research, but I know many who have had great success with her Bontech formulae Ronna's son has benefitted greatly from them but I recall the fish oil increased his tics (i think?) Some people dont react well to them tho...either to the TSplus or to the fish oil. However, many have also found that after an initial increase in tics on the TS plus, they then level out and start seeing the reduction. I am assuming that you did a very gradual withdrawal on the strattera? sometimws the withdrawal symptoms can be just awful, and so that may be what you are experiencing. Her system had become very used to the chemical in strattera and with it gone, and no substitute...well you can see what I mean! Also the combination of the 2 meds had an effect, and now with just the clonidine in her system...things are unbalanced from what her body had become attuned to. I am assuming that you daughter has TS? with the ADD...or is it an undefined tic? It is so hard when you have to weigh the bad side effects with the benefit of a med. I do hope and pray you will find the direction you need to go in to help her. please stay in touch!
Ronnas
We have used Bonnie's vitamins for just about 2 years. It's a long story but in the end I ended up looking at what was in her vitamins and adding them one at a time for my son so that I could make sure he was not reacting adversely to anything in them...THEN when i knew he was ok with everything I gave him Bonnie's supplements for no other reason than I found her's easier than giving them separtely. We knew my son was reacting to something and it ended up being the fish oil. I now have him on a different essential fatty acid with good results. At present my son really does seem to need the efa's but I think we are at the point that we can switch to a good multivitamin. My son though eats very healthy and is not a picky eater. I hope you can find something that helps soon.
Guest mgp
My son has tourette's, asthma, allergies to dust and mold and is ADHD. He was and currently is, taking guanfacine. About 2 years ago he had a huge increase in tics due to stress and mold. Rather than up the dosage of guanfacine, we started him on Bonnie's supplements. I am pleased with the program. His tics are minimal, his asthma has improved. I think this is because his immune system is stronger due to the vitamins. The ADHD is still problematic (and now at 14 hormones are kicking in). I think it's better now that he is on the vitamins but it still interferes with his success in school and socially. I would recommend the program. Good luck to you! Guest Guest_ntbowen
Bonnie's made my child moody and more aggresive. We are trying to add one thing at a time to figure it all out. It's definitely worth a try, but unsucessful with us. My son has an allergy to corn, and somehow I really feel that they must contain corn or he definitely reacted negatively to one of the components. Good luck.
