Are we sure it is not contagious? I just wonder since many people on this forum have multiple family members (usually siblings) with PANDAS. I wonder if it is the particular strain of strep (more pathogenic???) or a genetic factor that makes one more susceptible. Do we have concrete info on this?

So...what does a person take for strep if allergic to penicillin?

The doc he is seeing knows much about Lyme and she has already checked for it....negative. Plus, the treatment that he is getting would address Lyme, too. The other day she did say that she is fairly certain that Lyme is not an issue. Thanks for mentioning!

My son had a sinus infection in April took ceftin...PANDAS symptoms started in July. My son has had antibiotics only three times in his 14 years. His eczema got worse with amoxicillin, he got sores on his hands after using ceftin for only three days. He used zithromax once we realized he had PANDAS without a problem (but no positives either). I guess we need to avoid penicillin type antibiotics now. So...what is the best abx to use if you think the strep is in the sinuses? His knee is swollen as well...doc has ordered tests to determine if rheumatic fever is an issue.

Be careful with oil of oregano...it is very hot/spicy...some kids would not want to take it due to the heat. Also, don't get it in your eyes!!!

How about lysine, vitamin a, and/or higher doses of ole?

Is the person taking any amino acid blend or branched chain amino acid mix? This could cause a fishy smell. If yes, stop the product.

IgM is usually positive in an acute situation IgG is usually positive if exposed in the past but not still active Are there numbers indicating a result? Also there should be a reference range listed or something saying high/low or positive/negative depending on the labs. I am not familiar with this test so I am being kind of vague. J

It could have been but it went on for eight weeks. I think he was actually expressing one of the remedies he was taking instead. We still use homeopathy but with a classical homeopath. Response to remedies in acute illness is usually amazing. Chronic stuff Has been harder. I just switched my son with autism to another homeopath to see if the chronic can be addressed better. I am Thinking of switching my other son with current pandas issues over to her as well. J

My friend's son started with them a long time ago after he stopped speaking...most likely PANDAS related. Within a few days of starting the homeopathy, he started speaking again. He is still a patient there after all these years. My son was also a patient there, but with a different homeopath. I was not happy with how things were going. It caused major OCD that did not subside until he stopped the remedies. This is not classical homeopathy, for those that are not familiar with Houston. I guess no one knows how things will turn out unless it is tried... They are extremely expensive!!! J
