Treatment plan for my son: We are starting with Rifampin at 300mg and increasing to 450mg If herxing isn't to bad then I am adding Zithromax 250mg I am giving him 100billion/day of probiotics support for sleep since he is waking at 2:00am dressing up for the day: melatonin (which really helps), Relax Max, Amantilla, and Babuna-Does anyone have experience w/any of these? I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE ALL OF THIS SUPPORT! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! Andrea

Well its official, my son is starting treatment for Lyme and Bartonella tomorrow. Its been 7 years of suffering for him and our entire family, and we are all burnt out! I am very optimistic that this is going to work. I am excited for him but nervous at the same time especially since school is starting in 2 weeks. Its going to be tough if he's going to go through the herxing at school, not sure what I will do then. Anyway, I will probably need support during this new adventure. Andrea

Hello S & S Mom, I do have a Lyme specialist that I am working with. However, I am fighting to get my abx filled through Kaiser. I am interested in speaking to you about you experience with Kaiser and what I have to look forward to. If you have time, please contact me at sani.ad@att.net. I'd love to chat! Andrea

In addition to a diagnosis of Lyme, we just found out that my 8 yr. old son tested positive for Bartonella Henselae and FISH and tested equivocol for Babesia Duncai. When I told a doc at Kaiser about the Bartonella diagnosis he "chuckled" and said that he is infected to and that most people are. He didn't seem concerned a bit. How serious are these 2 infections anyway? I've read that they do have an influence on psychiatric disorders. Any experience with this? Is it possible that these can play a larger role than lyme in my son's disorders? Andrea

Hello- I am curious if anyone has ever heard of the this test for Lyme: Diasorin Liaison Analyzer. Kaiser performed this test on my son 1 year ago and it turned out negative. However, recently he tested positive via Igenex. Kaiser never did the Western Blot. Just doing a little digging for a piece of mind. Andrea

Hello- Thank you to everyone who has responded to my questions. All websites and information has been very informative. SF MOM, I just watched the video-fascinating and scary. They spoke of the psychiatric problems that can arise due to Lyme and it sounds so much like my son. I am interested in an appointment with the speaker. Do you have time to talk? I'm interested in getting some names and some more information if you have the time. My email is: santi.ad@att.net. Thanks to all. You've been most helpful! Andrea

Hello- I just had my 8 year old son tested for Lyme at Igenex (basic panel). He has severe psychiatric issues for years (ADHD, MOOD DISORDER, TICS, ANXIETY, etc.) I was wondering if anyone could help try to interpret. Does it look like he may potentially have LYME or further testing needed? Here are the results: IFA, B Burgd. 40 Equivocal IGM Positive (3 IND's & 6 +'s) CDC/NYS Negative IGG Negative CDC Negative Can anyone make sense of this? SHould I have done the CD57 test? Andrea

Hi Susan, I am new to this forum (actually participated in it last year) and I was wondering what kind of symptoms your 9 year old son was having due to Lyme. Is he better today? Andrea

Hi Chemar, This is the first time my son has been on a multivitamin. I'm told that its in much higher doses than what we are used to buying and its formulated in a way for better absorbtion. His tics have actually improved significantly among many other emotional problems. Andrea

I want to share some thrilling new with all of you who have children with Tourettes. I started my son (age 7) on a product called "Empower Plus" (please see website for "True Hope"). This micronutrient was recommended by a naturepathic doctor to see if it would help my son's adhd, anxiety, rage, anger, and tic issues. Not only has it helped with anger and rage (he has not had a meltdown or broken anything in our home in 6 weeks!) but his tics (both vocal and motor) have gone from severe to extremely extremely mild to nothing at all most days of the week. This to me is truly amazing! There are many adults and children whom this product has worked for. Many conventinal doctors (psychiatrists) know about the product and are trying it out on their patients. It does not work for everyone but it certainly has gotten many adults and children off meds. It worth looking into. just thought I'd share the good news. Andrea

I believe Chemar was the one who said that long term doses can increase anxiety. Not sure about this myself. Andrea

My 7 year old has OCD and we are going to try EMPOWER PLUS to see if it helps with his anxiety. Has anyone tried it? Andrea
-
Has anyone heard of Empower Plus product or tried it? I'm going to try it for my son who has ADHD as 1 of his diagnosis. Andrea

We did a 2 month trial of Tenex on my son when he was close to age 7. Ultimately, we took him off because of the sedation. He lost his "spunk". He went from this lively exuberant child to someone I couldn't get out of bed. They have a new version of Tenex (forgot the name) but I've heard its less sedating and its long lasting. Good Luck! Andrea

Hi Chemar, Do you know if it is ok to dissolve inositol in water? How did you give it to your son when he was younger? Andrea
-
Chemar, Thank for all this info. We are starting at 2000mg and working toward 4000mg/day per doctor (alternative med). My son has severe anxiety and OCD and I sure hope it helps fast! Andrea
-
Hi Chemar, I read in some older posts of yours that it has worked for your child. We are eager to start it tomorrow. How fast can we expect to see results if it works? Also, what exactly is this? I've been told its a form of sugar? Its its primary goal to work on serotonin? Andrea

My son will start using Inositol for his adhd symptoms and tics. Has anyone tried this on their child? How does it work? Andrea

I started my 7 1/2 year old son on an elimination diet (mostly dairy and gluten and sweets). I would love to hear from those of you who have tried it on their child with ADHD, Anxiety and/or TICS and how it worked in terms of changing challenging behaviors??? When did you start to see a change? Andrea

Hi! We use Source Naturalle. We get ours at Whole Foods. I am sure most of them say Adult use only. It is a little pill that comes in either 1, 2 or 3mg. My son is 7 and he gets half of the 1mg pill and it's typically lights out within 30 minutes of giving it to him. Works wonders. At my In Laws this weekend I ran out because I didn't plan on staying longer than 1 night so my DS did not get any and was up until 1am YIKES! Very wired restless. My son is on the smaller side and only about 43lbs so the .5mg works for him but if your son is more of an average 7 year old or bigger, he may need more. m First night he took it we were like THANK YOU! Good luck! Do you know of any long term side effects? Can the body get hooked on it so they can't fall asleep w/o it? Andrea
