I am sorry if there is a discussion some place else on this, I have looked for a few days and I have been unable to find it. My daugther 19 was on augmetin for 28 days ( quick description of issues, anxiety, gi issues, onset over night with anxiety issues, been the conventional route, therapy etc, no help) found dr. k, got a perscription for the augmentin she felt very good regained energy etc. she has been off now for 1 week and slowly her energy is waning and a few things she hadn't thought of as Pandas and didn't realize she hadn't been doing them until she was off the augmentin came back. mostly sensory where she has to touch certain things...she thought it was just something she did. but now she sees she wasn't doing while on the augmetin and now again she is and anxiety seems to be come on fast and furious some days along with the no energy again. dr k wants her to see dr. lechman since she seems to be getting worse since off the augmentin. anyone out there seen dr. lechman (yale) know what he is about and what he offers and or have you had children backslide off the antibiotic? i guess i am confused why we aren't just going for more augmentin. any info would be helpful. thanks.

I am sorry I don't have any ideas of what is happening with the panic attacks, but I wanted to let you know that my daughter is 19 with high anxiety and one of her biggest fears also that presented when this all began was the fear of throwing up. She has a lot of separationg anxiety. She has been treated wtih augmentin for the past 28 days and is feeling better but I will say that she did experience some panic during that time where she became somewhat dizzy and then just didn't feel well and the panic set in, it happend about 3 times while she was being treated with the augmentin and were short lived episodes. We are seeing how she is feeling off the augmentin now, she feels better but it is hard to tell stomach wise since the augmentin seemed to bother her stomach some, she wants to see how she feels without taking anything for a bit and see where her level of anixety is at this point. sorry I didn't have anything helpful for you here but thought maybe knowing about the throwing up and anxiety at an older age might be a bit comforting knowing you are not alone. I cried too, lots of time when I got out of the house on my own, it's a release.

she doesn't have any other outward sounds or movements that I see other than the noise I described. she did just tell me the other day that she notices when the anxiety is high she walks on the side of her foot...she is just really beginning to share things with me, so much of what she held inside I didn't know..this board has been very helpful..thanks to all who post.

I have a question about tics. My daughters main symptoms have been anxiety (she's 19) but she does do this throat clearing thing. She does or did have excessive mucus (I have seen it) that seems to fill her up. She constantly is making this horrible sound in order to get this up (her fear is it will go to her stomach and then make her stomach hurt, we have a lot of gi symptoms as well)this sound is repeated three or four times usually in a row till she feels she has it all. Then she may not do it for awhile seems to be in the evening more, but is repeated every day. When I ask her about it if it is habit or does she think a tic she says no its just the mucus but I wonder about it...sometimes there is a little noise at the end of it (sorry so hard to describe) like a little cluck, like your tongue clicking the top of the roof of your mouth. Part of me wonders if she is feeling just normal secretions but it has become a habit because she is worried about her stomach. any ideas?

My thoughts on PANDAS and related conditions
Kay replied to Dr_Rosario_Trifiletti's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
We live in the thick of lyme country where it all began so of course that was one of our first test. She was negative. -
How many parents think THEY had PANDAS?
Kay replied to thereishope's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Well it all sounds possibly to me and the inflammation is connected to so many things, even the food allergies etc. Keep thinking out loud! -

I was feeling pretty good by the time I got pregnant had three years under my belt by then and they pregnancy was good..seemed to backslide a bit afterwards and that was when i had another round of the amino acids and the nystatin for the yeast within a couple of years after her birth. -

I know this is an older post but as I was scanning the board I came across it. I am new here and posted for the first time just the other day about my daughter she is 19 and I posted to Dr. T's request as to how many had the high levels of Mycoplasma pneumoniae on the blood test. My daughter did not show levels of strep but as I said in the post the Mycoplasma pneumoniae were high. Ever since we started researching this some time in early December I have wondered if I too had suffered from this. I am well now..but at age 23 I "came down with" bad anxiety. I have had strep twice in my life that I know of, once some where around age 19 or so (If I knew I would need this info down the road I would have tried harder to remember) but to the best of my knowledge it was around 19 remember having to get a shot of penicillin, I don't remember much more about it. I do remember the day the anxiety came on, it is clear and as I said I was 23. I suffered with it for years always trying to figure out what was happening, doctors, therapist, priest, I finally ended up agoraphobic not quiet housebound but it took everything I had to go to a job and hold down everyday life. I suffered for about 8 years when I ended up at a Naturopathic doctor, I had food allergies, amino acid levels that were all over the place. I eliminated the foods that were not good for me including anything with gluten, turns out that was a big one. I had supplemental amino acids to get my levels back in check and really began to feel better. So good that I got pregnant, had a great pregnancy and then seemed to need another round with the amino acids after my daughter was born. I was ok after she was born but teetered some days with the anxiety that seemed to come and go but never as bad as it was...I was tested for candida (yeast) and had high level of that. Took nystatin for awhile and felt much much better again. I have had step once again after all this when my daughter was around 7 or 8 it was June which I think is an odd time for it. No one around me had it but I was pretty sick with it. Received amoxcilin for it and felt better right away. Right before I was pregnant I was looking into why my teeth were moving out of place, dentist did not think I had gum disease. Became pregnant shortly after that and did not go back to the dentist for work until after my daughter was born...where i was told I had very bad periodontal disease. I should mention that before this from around age 20 I had a bad tooth that my dentist did not realize for quite awhile that I needed a root canal...I had antibotics over and over again whenever that flared and it flared often. I ended up with antibiotics when surgery was done for the periodontal disease and that is now under control, been 18 years of care but my gums are in good health now. I mention the tooth/gum issues because it is all inflamation and wonder are all these things tied together. And I also wonder if the amount of antibiotics I have had because of the teeth/gum issues if that helped me along with elimination of the foods/gluten and the amino acids. My mother just the other day told me that my dad when he was young around 15 or 16 years old she remembers going to visit him one summer when he had to stay in bed the whole summer, she said she thinks it was rheumatic fever she said they were young and no one ever really said what it was he had. He died at age 52 from heart disease and also had periodontal disease that the dentist at first said he did not have. I just wonder with it all. Now my daughter with what she is dealing with. Quick story for her it came on during high school, had presented with lots of gi symptoms for a couple of years and then exposed by boyfriend to strep and within a few weeks "came down with" anxiety, couldn't attend school and or be separated from us etc. I just wonder. Sorry this is so long but I feel like if there are people out there putting the puzzle together the more info the have the better. thanks. -
Hi - I am new to the board I have been reading through this discussion board for a few weeks and came across this post from Dr. Trifiletti yesterday. My daughter is 19 and fits the critera of Dr. K's older children symptoms to a "T" We had the blood work done and strep did not show up but the Mycoplasma was high. Her symptoms really kicked in after being exposed in Junior year of high school to strep, her boyfriend had it and she was exposed to him before he realized it was strep and treated. She never presented with strep at the time but does remember feeling not great it was during mid terms so she pushed herself to get to school, that was January, by February she was a different kid. We struggled to get her to school and finally by end of March she wasn't going at all. There is a lot more to her story keeping it short here. We have just begun with Dr. K she is on augmentin now, we realize that is not the antibiotic for the mycoplasma, and have discussed this with Dr. K and once this round of augmentin is done we will discuss this further, for right now he wants her on this...she has felt better, still not great but seeing some improvements. This board has been so helpful for me. Thanks to all of you for your post.
