  1. Yes, Dr. T = Dr. Trifiletti of Ramsey, NJ
  2. Yes. It means at the very least that he has had it. Dr. T said for my dd that she has Chronic Myco. Pneumoniae. Her IgG was elevated but not IgM. I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the IgG number would have eventually fallen to a normal level if their immune system killed off the MP. In subsequent infections the IgM may not rise. I don't understand your question. Biaxin xl i assume? good luck with it and keep us posted. My basic understanding is that a high IgG means they have been infected in the past. Once infected, the IgM doesn't always rise when reinfected. Maybe I am wrong but I thought that the IgG would return to a normal reading if you didn't still have the infection. I could be wrong. Angela
  3. how long has it been since she had the IVIG?
  4. I use Culturelle and it has worked well for my dd. Angela
  5. Where are you located?
  6. Dr. T starated my dd on Biaxin XL right off the bat. He must have learned from your son's case and went right to the XL. Glad he did. No need to ahve stomach upset on top of everything else. Keep us posted. Angela Angela, Can't wait to hear how she does. Due to stomach upset from regular Biaxin, Dr. T switched Gat to Biaxin XL yesterday. We picked up the Rx today, gave him another full day today of no abx and fighting yeast to try and get a foothold on it. Tomorrow we start XL. My fingers couldn't be crossed any tighter. My son is also a very good responder to Advil.
  7. Might be worth trying Biaxin with your son. Angela My dd had been on Zith (for 2 months) and AugmentinXr (for 3 months) before she was tested for Mycoplasma. It's possible hers were higher too as she has had some changes for the better since starting Zith. (vocal tic is gone, motor tic is reduced a lot, ocd not as bad) Today was a very good day. (3 doses of Biaxin Xl in her) She ate a lot which is usually very difficult for her due to ocd. she went outside on her own and asked me to go on a bike ride with her. Has only gone outside on her own once (a few days ago, after prednisone began to kick in) since last fall. She did have trouble brushing her teeth, which brought her to tears, but she regrouped and i took her to the YMCA swimming with her cousins. She went to the locker room after and showered and dressed on her own. She didn't even ask me to come with her. Then she went to her cousins to hang out for a couple hours. With all she ate today, she only had trouble eating during one of her meals. (so I have to watcher her eat) But it wasn't to the degree that she usually has trouble. Still could be the prednisone, but I hope its the Biaxin kicking in as well. Last time on prednisone she had 5 really good days so it may be that. Angela

  9. yes, strep was in the normal range.
  10. Sorry yeah, more than 3 times higher than the normal range. Normal is < .9 and she was 2.75. Angela
  11. my dd tested within the normal range for strep but is more than 3 times the elevated level for mycoplasma pneumoniae. Angela
  12. We are on day 3 of Biaxin and we'll keep you updated at time goes by. Dd had a recentl steroid burst so I can't say for sure whether the benefits we are seeing right now are from the prednisone or from the Biaxin or both, but yesterday was better than normal and today she ate her whole breakfast without ever asking me to watch her eat and she ate more than normal. She finds eating difficult because she thinks she chews weird and so I have to watch her chew every bite. It is so stressful that she doesn't often eat much. Today she had two granola bars and a slice of pizza and she ate it without me. MIght be the prednisone but during the last burst chewing was still somewhat of an issue. Please keep me updated as well. Angela
  13. She's now on Biaxin as of yesterday. Two doses down. The thing that I have had has gone on all my life and is something I've heard others talk about. It is a sharp pain that shows up only once in GREAT while. When you inhale deeply, it feels like a sharp pain. If you stop breathing for a few seconds, it goes away. Anyone ever heard of that? (or is it just my family) A year or more could go by without feeling it. Then it might happen twice in a month then go away again for a long time. Angela
  14. One thing I haven't talked about much is that particular symptoms. My dd (alwasy very precocious) was just in a complete fog before we started antibiotics. It just seemed like she couldn't think at all. She would blurt out the most ignorant things sometimes and just really seemed to be going backward intellectually. Even though we've just switched her to Biaxin for the Mycoplasma, since she started Zith, her clarity has returned to a large degree. Where before she couldn't even keep track of when it was her turn playing cards, now she can strategize again. Angela
  15. My children are English and Irish on their father's side and Canadian French on my side.
  16. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/469386.html I was just reading at this link and now in hind sight I recongnize some symptoms my dd had when this whole thing started 3 years ago. She would complain that when she would lay down at night she couldn't breathe well and thinking back I either attributed it to a cold she recently had or to the fact that she was struggling with milk intollerances that made her really phlegmy. lso, she periodically (not even daily but once in a while) complained of chest pain. It seemed inconsiquential at the time. Once in a while i also feel chest pain with a sharp intake of breathe and I've heard that is nothing to be worried about. It passes quickly and that is it. I am praying to God that this new antibiotic will bring my little girl back to normal. She so needs a break from this ###### she's been living. Angela
  17. For those who do not know what this stands for ...... F*##^% Up Beyond All Recognition That fits very well. I've resorted to a similar explanation of symptoms at times. Angela
  18. I like acronym games, but don't have the medical chops for this one. How about from a parent's point of view... PANDA BARE Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders from Abundant Bothersome Antibodies Ruining Everything LOL. this one strikes my fancy.
  19. That's what it sounds like to me. I guess time and Biaxin will tell. I'll keep you all posted.
  20. My dd tested neg. for strep but positive for mycoplasma. she has had symptoms for 3 years. Initially they were moderate. severe enough that erp didn't make her symptoms managable and we put her on ssris. This fall however, her exacerbation incapaciated her. She could pretty much only sit on the couch and watch tv and eat. She couldn't dress, walk, brush her teeth, shower, all daily activities caused excessive repetitions so much so that she stopped doing anything that she would feel compelled to repeat, which was pretty much everything except watching TV. Before beginning augmentin I discoverd that Advil helped tremendously. So then when we did start augmentin it was hard to say if it was the augmentin helping or the advil. Then when we added Zith to the regiment, she did begin to improve within days (vocal tic left within days but came back for a while when she got sick, then went away again)but never got back to baseline. I can't wait to pick up her new script for Biaxin XL tomorrow and start that. (that is what Dr. T wants her on for ten days, then reevaluate) I pray that this is the answer we are looking for. Angela
  21. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Angela
  22. Only positive on the (IgG) This is the Mycoplasma IgM 0.57 (nl < 0.90). My dd also has trouble eating. I have to watcher her eat every bite to make sure she chews right. It scares the ###### out of me because she's already very thin. Will definitely keep you updated. Can't wait to hear from Dr. T and see what he wants her on for antibiotcs and start them. I hope this is the answer. Do you also have Dr. T? Angela
  23. I hear ya! We're in the same boat, he found my son's, too. We've had to discontinue abx for a couple days because of a little stomach bug and his inability to eat much less take meds BUT week that we've been treating for myco instead of chasing down strep, he had a lessening in severity in all areas of his illness. I pray you have a wonderful result now that you'll be treating the right pathogen! Good for you! Thank you. I was thinking about you guys. Please, lets keep in touch as our kids are treated for this and compare notes. Angela
  24. My daughter, who has suffered with PANDAS like symptoms for 3 years has elevated Mycoplasma IgG 2.75 (nl < 0.90). I just got an email from Dr. T but I haven't talked with him yet. I am SO relieved to know what is causing her problems. If Dr. T were in front of me right now I'd give him a BIG kiss and a hug. He is our hero! I'll talk with him later today to find out how we are changing up the antibiotics. Ever hopeful, Angela
  25. Did your son have obvious symptoms of mycoplasma or just the PANDAS like symptoms? Just had my daughter tested yesterday and am anxious to find out the results. She's always been very healthy other than PANDAS symptoms these last 3 years. Dr. T said that a different antibiotic is used for mycoplasma. Angela
