Jodie:

For the first 6 weeks of lyme treatment, my daughter was put on 3 antibiotics plus mepron plus two lyme herbal remedies. She really herxed!! Our doctor feels that you really need to attack the bacteria because they are so smart and learn to hide out from the antibiotics. However, he felt that our son was too weak to handle this strong of a regimen and he only started him on two antibiotics initially.

Thanks Elizabeth, Wendy, Lyme mom, pacific mama and all. Thanks for all your advise, wisdom and inspiration to help me keep going.

DS is two weeks post the start of Lyme treatment and three abxs plus herbal remedies. He is herxing very bad especially the motor tics with his head nodding, head shaking, facial grimacing etc almost all day. He also has shifting pain from the muscles of his arm to those of his legs. He is now limping badly on his right side. He was almost at baseline on Biaxin just before we started Lyme treatment. He was at 98% normal before his IVIG wih Dr K.

I have NO idea what the heck Im doing. All this massive germ infestation in my child makes me feel like Im living in a third world country with poor hygiene all around which is quite the opposite in reality and we're still infested. I simply find this experience with my son's illness with PANDAS and now Bartonella to be so huge, I simply can't wrap my head around the idea that he's so sick.It blows my mind and there are days when I'm so down I feel like blowing my head off. I think God saved me from my massive car crash in 2007 just to be able to help my son. I was in a coma for 3 months and am permamently disabled but fully functional more or less by now. God gives me strength to be able to carry on each day and with the help of you wonderful mothers on this website, I think we're all going to put this behind us one day.

Thanks you all for your kindness and support

Dear Moms,

Thank you for all the good information. DS, 11, had ivig in July and then we found out he had Lyme. We are three weeks into his Lyme protocol and he is a little bear. I don't mean a teddy bear, either. Just to talk to him-he bites your head off. He has been drinking a ton of water and taking his activated charcoal to soak up all the nasties, but this is more like the encephalopathy. I really feel like he can not control his behaviors-it is gut instinct. Later, after he yells, whatever, he will be sweet and loving. His best hours are at night before bed, although he is anxious at that time. Had anyone told me a couple of years ago that my life would be like this, I would have thought they were crazy. Pray for my "little man" to get through this tough spot in one piece. I called the school to prepare them. Principal was very kind and understanding.

Thanks,

Cobbie

Jodie- I am so sorry for what you are going through and I hope your son sees some improvement soon. It is so awful that so many children are dealing with these horrible bugs. The lyme doctors know how to get rid of these bugs so hang in there. I know none of this is funny but you really cracked me up with your comment about the germ infestation and wondering if you live in the Third World. That really made me laugh. You are so right. All these bugs-it just boggles the mind! I remember at the first visit with my first llmd he said told me that my son could also have Bartonella or Babesia in addition to lyme and I was like "Huh?" More? I was thinking to myself "You have got to be kidding". I was so careful about carseats and other things that would affect my kids' health. I had no idea that there was something lurking in my backyard, and on the playgrounds and soccer fields that could make them very sick for years. You will put this behind you one day so hang in there! There is a reason you are here and something good will come of this.
