NewBeginnings Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) What vitamins and supplements? I would not give Zith at the same time as Augmentin. This is our schedule: AM: Augmentin, Vit C, Nystatin, Ginger Root Lunch: Probiotics (at school) After School: Milk Thistle Dinner: Augmentin, Vit C, Nystatin, Ginger Root, Multi-Vit Bedtime: Magnesium/Potassium Combo I feel like I'm forgetting something! We no longer give charcoal every day. But when I do give it to him, I send it with his lunch and then give probiotics at bedtime instead. On Weekends I add Florastor in as well. I know, it's hard, there's not enough hours in the day! Edited August 29, 2010 by NewBeginnings

NewBeginnings Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 We use Florajen 3. It's a capsule that has to stay cold. Zinc is not on our supplement list, so I'm not sure on that one. Do not give any probiotics or good yeast at the same time as antibiotics. It will cancel out your abx. I have just been putting his probiotics in his lunch and told him to be discreet about it. He doesn't want to have to go to the nurse either. I'm wondering how long that will work! Charcoal will absorb anything in the stomach, so make sure it's given completely by itself and at least 2 hours away. I give Vitamins B6 & C, Magnesium, Zinc and S. Boulardi (good yeast). I usually do everything but the Zinc in the morning. I read somewhere that Zinc should be given separately at bedtime so that's what we do. I used to have the schedule down until we added that second antibiotic. What probiotic do you use? Is it pill or powder? Do you have to send a dr's note for your son to take it at lunch? My son just doesn't want to go to the nurse every day since this is a new school for him. I'm trying to accomodate but it's awfully hard. What is milk thistle and where do you get it? I know it's for liver support but is it a pill? What vitamins and supplements? I would not give Zith at the same time as Augmentin. thereishope Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) What time does your son get home from school? My son is taking Zith and Augmentin for a bad sinus infection. This is our med scedule Morning (around 8am) Augmentin and vitamins 4pm Pearl probiotic 6pm Zithromax 8pm Augmentin and allergy med The probiotic will ideally be spaced out 2-3 hours from an antibiotic. The pharmacist said at least one hour between the Zith and the Augmentin. I go for 2 to make myself feel better. Edited August 31, 2010 by Vickie

thereishope Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 This is only day 2 of taking the Zithromax. I pick him up at 2:45 so I think I will do the zithromax then. I didn't know you could space the two antibiotics so close together. That would make things a little easier. I was trying to squeeze in two doses of the probiotic bc he has been getting constipated since being on the two antibiotics. How is your son handling the two?
