Joan Pandas Mom Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I discovered Wednesday that we had a small gas leak outside but it had been seeping in though the foundation. This has been going on since the winter (I could smell something outside then) but has gotten worse over the last couple of weeks. We have a tight house and with the hot weather, our finished basement really stunk. I thought the cat had had an accident somewhere. Anyway, I just started reading about the effects of natural gas exposure on the nervous system. It affects the immune system. I just started to research this. Our house might be contributing to my son's struggle too. AHHGGG!

I was wondering about lyme or another infection.... it just seemed like there was something else happening. This leak could explain a lot. Will you be able to get it plugged up soon?
lynn Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Call your gas company and complain right away--a natural gas leak could also have acute effects on your life (eg kaboom)especially if it is getting worse! They have the expertise to fix it.
matis_mom Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Oh my! That stinks (literally), but at least it's something relatively easy to fix I think it's a lot easier when it's an outside factor than if there was something else wrong with the child. Plumbers can be expensive, but a lot cheaper than PANDAS specialists!!! As a hopeful note, when my sister was little there was a gas leak and by the time the neighbor discovered it everyone in the house had passed out. My sister actually had to be resucitated at the hospital. She went on the leave a very normal life, and is now a juvenile judge! I guess no permanent damage there! Keep us posted!
Joan Pandas Mom Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Yes, they fixed it. He was tested for lyme too, the test seemed negative but The LL doc is out until Wed. Also, I checked at 7 weeks post IVIG and have been reading here it shouldn't be tested until at least 12 weeks post IVIG.
Joan Pandas Mom Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Good new about your sister. I guess I won't worry too much then. Thanks,

I THINK they said 7 weeks would be fine the last time I spoke with them.
