Guest Nessie Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 I am new to Tourette's and I have just been getting my head around the elimination diet I am going to have to set up for my 8 year old son. I have found a lot of information BUT I can't find much on PALM OIL. Is palm oil high, moderate or low in salicylate content? I hope someone can help. Thanks Nessie
Ausclare Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Hi Nessie, I'm married to a Scotsman! I cannot find any info on the Palm oil, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it is not great for sensitive people because it has to be really refined to be used. I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw it. It might be the Dr Mercola site. The Failsafe book that I have doesn't list it, try emailing Sue Dengate on her website. www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info
marina Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Hi Nessie Don't know about Palm oil, but on Failsafe only raw cashews (limit of 10 per day) are allowed during elimination diet. I hope this recipe from Failsafe cookbook for cashew paste helps (I haven't tried it) 200g raw cashews 1-2 tsp sea salt Canola or sunflower oil for mixing (about 1-2 tsp) Put cashews in blender, add salt, blend briefly. Add oil little at a time and blend until desired consistency. Limit 2 teaspoons per day. Also check that oil doesn't contain antioxidants.
Scottish Nessie Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Thanks Marina and Ausclare for your comments and reciepe. I'll try it out. Scottish Nessie
