EmersonAilidh Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Sorry for all of the posts lately. :/ P.A.N.D.A.S. doesn't take off for summer. -_____- Anyway. I've mostly been posting about my Mom's lack of support with my current exacerbation. So, today, when she told me that she booked us a trip to Chicago for two weeks in July (when I've been asking her to book a doctor's appointment, not a vacation, for weeks now...) I was about to lose it. My aunt is taking a vacation to New Zealand & we will be staying in her house looking after my aunt's son. An hour or two into my brooding it hit me; Dr. K is going to be practically down the street from where we are staying. I can't imagine my Mom denying me an appointment with him. She knows I've e-mailed him & she knows what a revolutionary, for lack of better term, he is. My only question is.. Would there be any point?? I would go in, tell him what was wrong, maybe receive some insight, & then head back to Texas. I think that just talking to a doctor actually educated on P.A.N.D.A.S. would be so great, really. Even if we weren't actually able to get anything accomplished. Is there anything he could do in one appointment?? I'm leaving for Chicago on July 7th, only eleven days away, & I will be there until the 21st. Could I even get an appointment?? If I do end up being able to see him, it would be such a blessing. If not... Then I can't help but feeling like two more weeks are going to be wasted for me.
Iowadawn Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 I would be contacting him ASAP, explaining your situation, and asking if there would be anyway for him to see you while you were in Chicago. He wanted to see our dd15 and in less than a week we were in. Because he gets sooooo many emails, briefly remind him who you are, how bad, and where you are from. I bet he could see you. Dawn
Mary M Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Call him right away. See if they can get you in for a consult. Dr K is going to be out of town for the OCD Foundation conference toward the end of your Chicago trip dates. I believe Dr K would appreciate meeting you if it is at all possible.
tired mom Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Bless you for being so young and tackling this on your own. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise and you have someone" up there" steering you in the right direction. Hope things work out for you!!

tpotter Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Everyone is so right. I don't think you'll have a problem getting an appointment with him. BTW, we'll be there from July 8 - 10 for IVIG. Maybe we'll see you there. Good luck. You are really an amazing person to be taking such initiative at your age. You'll go very far in life with that skill!
EmersonAilidh Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Thank you all so much! So you think it's a good idea to see him, even only if just once??
Tenacity Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Consult with him! It will increase your knowledge and could turn out to be a stepping stone to getting more help -- from him and/or from other doctors. I so admire your intelligence and determination! Good Luck! Tenacity
