So, in reviewing my sons labs again today...I was reminded of their high antibody response to Rubella. Positive (protective) antibody is 1:10....my older son is 3:90 and younger son is 3:07. Last vaccinations (MMR) were 5 years ago for both....younger son never received his booster because I quit vaccinating (thank God). He obviously didn't need it anyway!!!!!! Doesn't this seem high? They had many labs run...their results are very similiar. Nothing sticks out except this high antibody response to Rubella in both of them.

Could this mean anything???

I was told that my son's very high rubella titer was an indication of his immune cells having "a really good memory" of the virus. Nothing problematic.

Kelly,

It pops right up when I click on it. If you copy and paste the title, the page with the links will come right up and you can access from there, if it won't work for you.

Just to clarify, the rubella titer is just a measure of how much "memory" your immune system has of the virus through MMR vaccination.

I thought the Rubella titer was a measure of how much antibody is in the blood per ml of blood? So, isn't this a high volume?? (Kim...still trying to open the link....going to try what you said)

I did find one report of an "autistic like" child whose only flaws in blood work were a high rubella titer, and on the low side IGG and IGA.....EXACTLY the same as both my boys??! This child recovered with IVIG.

I really don't know, but logically, it seems to me that the titers should not be too high unless your child was recently vaccinated or recently exposed. There are "protective levels (able to mount a robust response in case of exposure) and there are infection levels (immune system is mounting a response). I know I've heard of a lot of autistic children who have high measles titers. My daughter's were never checked.
