Lynn777 Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Anyone have any problems with this medicine and extra ticcing? Thought I'd check before giving it to my son. I know antihistamine's can be a problem, but wasn't sure about the cough suppressants. Thanks!
TessaKrista Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I suspect that decongestants are problematic. I did a search one day on line using the search :cough syrup induced movement disorders, and I learned that cough and cold remedies that include decongestants can bring out something in kids that are predisposed to tics. I don't have the links, sorry.
Lynn777 Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks, but this isn't the one with the decongestant (Phenylephrine) in it, it's the one just for coughs (Diphenhydramine)?
Lynn777 Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 Nevermind, I'm a total dope! I just realized as I was typing the above reply that "Diphenhydramine" is the same thing that is in Benadryl which he sometimes takes for his allergies. I NEVER knew, Triaminic cough syrup and Benadryl were the same thing. It's interesting what you find out when you start reading labels...
