JAG10 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 A Happy Father's Day to all the fellows on the board. We appreciate the balance and perspective you share as PANDAS dads. Your children are genuinely blessed to have you fighting for their wellness and right to a happy childhood. An extra special shout out to Alex who spends this Father's Day away from his own children overseas so the rest of us can enjoy the comfort of being protected by the finest military on the planet!!!

Here, here! Speaking of Alex . . . I didn't know he was in the military and overseas right now. Do you know how his child is doing after IVIG? I had PMed to ask, not knowing that he was away. Happy Father's Day, all!
memom Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 I agree. Happy Father's day to all of the Dad's out there. Alex, if you are reading this, special safe one for you. Didn't realize you were there. Safe journey home please. Ellie
matis_mom Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Happy father's day to all the dads who are not in the forum but... * let us mothers spend hours on the internet researching pandas * let us mothers spend hours chatting on this forum * go to work every day to provide their families with health insurance and fork out whatever is necessary to make their child better * go to doctors, get their blood drawn and get on antibiotics even though they are feeling perfectly fine, just for the sake of their child... And all those other things PANDAS dads do!
Worried_Dad Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 From one PANDAS dad, thanks a bunch! This has been the best Father's Day I've had in 4 years. Our PANDAS son is 95% better, enjoying life again and having a "normal" kid summer. Still a few challenges... but the difference between today and the past 3 Father's Days is stunning! Here's praying that every dad on this forum has some happy, hopeful moments to cherish on this day, and that we all see signs of progress for our afflicted children!!!
P_Mom Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Worried Dad.....SOOOOO happy for you , your son, and your family! Have a blessed day!
MMC Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 From another PANDAS dad, thank you very much! This Father's Day IS better than last. Son's symptoms are not as bad, although he still has a long way to go. Tics still bother him a lot. But OCD and separation anxiety is all but gone, thanks to PEX and one IVIG. I wish him 100% healing and is so hard when it is taking so long to get there. Daughter also still struggles with tics and OCD, especially when stressed. But school is out now...so better. But I am very thankful where we are. Please send some prayers our way because tomorrow we see their neurologist, not Latimer of course, but one who is more local to Raleigh area. BCBS insurance is driving us crazy, as they have denied IVIG for his second treatment. So, we are not sure what other options we have at this point, other than to appeal insurance. Thank you again for the Father's Day note.

Worried Dad- Your son/family gives us hope!!! There has to be PANDAS moms w/o husbands and PANDAS kids with absent fathers--I hate to think of how awful this would be. I hope other families were able to enjoy a QUIET/FUN meal with Dad like we were able to do today. Happy Father's Day to all the PANDAS dads!! Dawn
tpotter Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Appeal, and call the State Insurance Fund if necessary. Insurance companies don't like to hear from the state insurance fund, and they frequently cave in quickly.
Johnsmom Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Amen to that sista! Thanks Alex! A Happy Father's Day to all the fellows on the board.
