Doug Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 My DD needs to have some baby teeth pulled so does anyone up the abx's for dental work? I am not sure if I need to..
thereishope Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Yes, a lot of parents have decided to increase antibiotics prior to having dental work done. Some also make sure they have a steroid burst on hand in case things start to creep back up. I'd even talk to the dental office and tell them she has an autoimmune disorder related to strep. That way if the dentist or aid has been exposed recently, they know to put that mask on right away or even have someone else help with the procedure. Edited June 12, 2010 by Vickie
amy s Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 We increased my dd's antibiotics for 10 days up to full strength dose for a dental cleaning. We started giving her the increased dosage about 2 days prior to the dental appt. Good luck!
colleenrn Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Yes, we either increae dose or add another antibiotic for 1-2 days prior and after. This includes teeth cleaning. My niece had a bad excacerbation with teeth cleaning and my 3 yo became extremely ill after his first teeth cleaning. Neither were on prophylactic antibiotics at the time. Colleen
