emmalily Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) there is an ocd series...treating people with behavioral theorpy...... the others i think had some tramatic event they young one, Codi...said he just woke up like this one day....he's 18... i don't know if they will be able to help him....i'm sure this was taped months ago...but .it makes me want to scream. .if he's not cured by the end... how can we get ahold of him..... do we have to wait that long....to find out if it failed.... I'm watching it right now! I keep thinking he is a total panda...he has the same compulsive hand movements that I do. I'm sure there is a way to contact them on the vh1 webpage. emmalily Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Also, Dr. Tolin is the CBT guy at the Institute of living that Dr. Leckman recommended for me, so I bet Cody has had some PANDAS information.
Fixit Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 even posting to you i keep loosing what i type... i checked out vh1 i don't blog or tweet... this would be a good opportunity for all of us to put something out there for him.. help codi.and spread the word it's going to take me an hour to figure out how to post over there.... maybe peglem, or buster or mrs buster..or anyone with some good research info to add would be a good addition there are a lot of you...you know who you are... i will attempt to put some trivial opinios out there....once i figure it out...no computer savvy
Fixit Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 by the way ..... how are you doing????? are you still seeing some slow progress??? on abx indefinitely?????? out of curiousity....does that mean he just doesn't know...4 years.....rest of your life????
Mary M Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 I watched...I cried...our children... To expose these people's pain seems so cruel but will some good come of it? Reality TV has always frightened me but the reality in my house with this awful disease frightens me too. I don't know where the ethics line should be drawn...
dut Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Yeh - I couldn't get passed the intro credits 'cos I worried it would be exploitative and (thus) painful to watch.. too close to home .. and I'm ashamed to say, I am somewhat of a reality tv 'ho - don't mind watching other people's troubles.. I might need to re-examine my reality tv habits. do those who have seen it feel it exploits the participants or show them and the disorder in an empathtic light?
emmalily Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 by the way .....how are you doing????? are you still seeing some slow progress??? on abx indefinitely?????? out of curiousity....does that mean he just doesn't know...4 years.....rest of your life???? I'm doing ok. Slow progress, for sure. The pollen has been horrible, of course. I've got two things left on my list of "scary places" to deal with the left-over OCD habits: classrooms and public transportation. I'm taking a class right now and have made it to a couple but still working out how to stay for the whole hour and 45 minutes. Probably should have picked a shorter class haha. And small public transport: elevators. Doing them like a pro now. Just gotta work up to the extended, travelling transport now Yes, abx indefinitely. The opinions seem to be stopping around 21 so that'd only be another year and half for me. Dr. Leckman recommended the CBT with Dr. Tolin from the show, and I had one CBT meeting with a woman in Dr. Leckman's office (Dr. Emily Anderson) which is where I made this list I'm working down. I've done 10 out of 12 things so seems like it's worth it...considering Dr. Tolin still. From The OCD Project he looks like he would be a good doctor, I just wonder if he treats PANDAS OCD differently or still tries to treat it like an emotional response (which I find to not be very helpful).
LNN Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Institute of Living - the one in Hartford? That's about 30 min from me. Wonder if the guy would be open to learning about Pandas. Emmalily - any info on the guy?

Emmalily - any info on the guy? Yep, in Hartford. Well, I think he must have some information on PANDAS because Dr. Leckman at Yale (he does the big PANDAS assessment) is the one who recommended Tolin to me in case I wanted to go on with CBT. I'm not sure how great his understanding is, but from the way Leckman talked about him it seems like he does at least know about PANDAS.
Fixit Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 Emmily, thanks for the info Glad you are moving along!!! i thought it was good....not exploitiveto me....but i have a better understanding than the general public that it's not just choices , there are things happening, chemical, be it from infection or tramatic event that have changed my concern is, for codi ..if they clear up any infection or realize that it might be autoimmune overdrive that needs to addressed then they might consider him a failure or untreatable or put him on other meds that aren't treating the problem treat the real underlying problem first and do physical therapy later....
