Guest Guest_efgh
Hi all Just a quick update that my son watches around 2 hours of TV per day on the normal screen (from a long distance though) and still his tics are virtually absent. Its a big improvement and we really hope it continues. I have started giving him milk, apples etc and still his tics are minimal. Thought of sharing this info with you all. Earlier, his main trigger was TV and milk. Claire, would update the post "what worked for my son" in a week's time from now. I am sure, I would get a clearer picture by then. Last year, this time, things were so out of control and it feels good to tell others that there is hope. Don't know if its the waxing/waning cycle though or a genuine improvement. I would like to again and again thank EVERY MEMBER of this forum for their invaluable support and guidance. I have learnt a LOT from experienced folks here in this forum. Chemar, no posts from you in a long time. we do miss your encouraging/valuable inputs. thanks.
Guest Guest_efgh
The things that I do to keep my son's tics under control and have been successful so far after a hectic stress filled year .... 1) flax oil 1 tblspoon in the morning (fish oil does not suit him) 2) Vitamin E 3) a good multivit with no offending stuff 4) Calcium citrate 5) magnesium taurate 6) Zinc gluconate Other important things 1.Avoided TV screens for 1 full year. Now , he is able to tolerate it. He is used to get a lot of vocal tics last year when he watched TV 2.Avoided allergic food stuff like milk, oranges, sugar, artificial ingredients from the diet 3.Lots of water 4.Good sleep 5.More love and affection at home With all these steps , his tics are VIRTUALLY ABSENT since 4 months. They were bothering all of us a lot , last year this time. Claire, you can please add these contents in the appropriate thread . Ausclare, glad to know that your sons are doing well too. Keep up the hard work!

Claire
efgh, Absolutely wonderful update. It makes me wonder whether simple avoidance of screens for a time removes the sensitivity (like avoiding certain foods for a time), or whether it is the overall healing, or some combination. I guess it is 'safest' to assume the combination was helpful. When I start a consolidated screens thread someday, I will put this in...I just haven't had time. Once my son is retested for mercury and yeast, I will 'test' him on CRT screens--some events are coming up where it would be easier if he could do this. I will let you know, but it won't be until later this year. Thanks again, and I am SOOOOO happy for you and your son, this is marvelous for your family and so encouraging for others--I will tell my son to, it will give him hope, as Heather's situation did. Guest Guest_efgh
Thanks Claire for your kind words. In fact, my son has been watching a movie on the CRT screen (TV screen) everyday for the past two weeks (approx 1.5 to 2 hours per day) without tics. I am trying my best to restrict but looks like he is determined to catch up with all the entertainment stuff that he missed out the past year. Last year, even if he watches the TV for a MINUTE, he would tic like crazy. He was without a TV (lcd or crt) for one long year. don;t know if the present improvement is due to the natural waning , healing or just the age factor or if its due to the supplements and flax oil. Lets hope for the best though. He takes milk one glass a day now and a piece of chocolate. He is able to tolerate them well. Only thing that he is still allergic to is the "orange". I would say that THE THING that helped him the most is FLAX OIL. Don't know why or how but not giving flax oil even for a single day makes a big difference for him. It really helps him. In this context, I would request all of you to read the following link which talks so much about flax oil. http://www.barleans.com/testimonials/index.html Claire, do inform your son about this and I am sure he will feel encouraged. Chemar, not many posts from you these days.
Guest Jeff
efgh: So glad to hear that your son is not ticcing. I'm sure you are all relieved and grateful for having found "natural" solutions. I'm interested in the Flax Oil. Which of the Barleans products does your son take? How's the taste? I tried fish oil for a while, but noticed that it actually increased my tics. I'd like to try the flax oil to get the Omega 3's... Thanks. Ronnas
Hi Jeff, I just thought I would let you know my son also does not do well with fish oil but does really well with evening primrose oil...as a matter of fact I also find evening primrose oil helpful for myself. On braintalk Claire had a link to some information about pyroluria in which it talked about people with pyroluria not responding well to omega 3's and doing better with the omega 6's. We certainly have found this to be the case at our house. I will try and pull the link over here but can't get on braintalk right now. Ronnas
Whoops, I forgot to say thanks for the update and we have had the same experience at our house. My son is tolerating TV now very well but milk is still a big problem. He had an ice cream last night (he was with grandpa) and boy could I ever tell immediately! Take Care, Ronna
Guest Jean
Hi Efgh, I’m so glad to hear your son's improvement. Certainly it does encourage to everyone here. After almost a year of avoiding TV/computer, I’m planning to give him TV trial as well. At least I don't see any difference after his weekly computer lab. We’re currently in the middle of house remodeling, so we stay in a hotel these days. I’ll let him try when we’re done the home project. All, My son used to have problem to tolerant the fish oil as well. He tried couple times with “fail†(i.e., tic increase). Later his NAET test showed that he’s allergic to the fish oil. He’s treated with NAET for the fish oil. Currently he’s been taking the fish oil for about 1 ½ month and he is doing fine with it. We're blessed and feel so thankful to GOD!
