Gamaguard Yes Gamunex NO?

Ok well the insurance comp said no to the ganunex but yes to the gammaguard what is the deal I can get the gamunex in the hospital only.But no privigin no more I didnt like that stuff hopefully the gammaguard is better. The octigam(sp) is an option too the infusions are double the size.Were going to try the gammaguard if that doesnt work we will go to the octigam(sp)

Not really sure I know there are some tecnical stuff.My MD likes one better than the other so ...

My guess is the insurance company has a contract with the company that makes gammaguard

Consider yourself blessed to get ANY of them covered. I just got the "out of pocket" quote from the hospital for our son's IVIG - $38,000 for a 2 gm dose of Gammaguard. Plus another $700-800 for the infusion center. And that's the cost of ONE time. No wonder our insurance doesn't want to pay. Now that D.C. has passed health care reform, is it too early to opt out and buy government insurance??!!

I think it is too early, but I'll bet it'll be difficult to get it covered under government insurance as well.

Thats rediculous !!when we had the 3 days in the hospitalit was 20,000 My insurance for at home infusions is 6,000 a month.I think they are ripping people off.If 1 gram is 5-6,000 how can 2 grams be 28,000?
