"Hi. We just wanted to give an update on Pepsi Refresh Project P.A.N.D.A.S. We know some of you aren't facebookers out there, but we don't want you to be left behind.

 

So, we now have a total of 364 fans on our page! This is remarkable. We not only have many PANDAS families, but we are getting the support of people without PANDAS kids as well. In order to keep the project fresh in people's mind and try to educate the people without a PANDAS child, we are doing occassional posts about PANDAS, PITAND, strep, etc.

 

If you are a facebooker and you haven't already joined, please consider it. It will be a good way to stay in communication and learn if we get on the Pepsi page and, if so, when to vote. If you do not have a facebook account, you can still view the page. You just cannot join or comment without an account.

 

April 1 will be the next time to try to get our submission in. We will let you know how that goes. And, don't worry, we will definitely post it here too! Please send good thoughts our way at midnight. That is when we will be at the computer trying to get in our submission. They only accept the first 1000!

 

As a reminder, if we do win, the grant money would go to Dr Cunningham's research.

Ok, I have a facebook account. But I am facebook illiterate. I figured out how to invite friends to vote. But then one asked "How do you vote?" and I don't know the answer.

 

Give me Madeleine Cunningham's "The pathogenesis of streptococcus" and I will do everything in my power to understand it. Ask me to find the right button to click on facebook and I'm a social idiot.

Here's the "lowdown" on this Pepsi thing again.

 

The first of every month, you try to submit your idea to their website (Pepsi). They only accept 1000 a month. As expected, there is a frenzy of everyone trying to get their submissions in. Last month, we didn't get ours submitted since all spots filled quickly April 1 at midnight, we will try to get it in again.

 

If we get our submission in, I believe around mid month, we would get notification that Pepsi legal has "okayed" the submission. Then on May 1 voting will start. Does that make sense?

 

So, right now we are in the mode of trying to people in place so they are ready to vote when we get our submission in. That facebook page will be linked to our submission so anyone viewing our submission on the Pepsi page can view the facebook page. That is also why we are doing blurbs about PANDAS on the facebook page. It gives up the opportunity to get more info out there. For the Pepsi application, there is limited amount of space. The facebook page is where more info is obtained.

 

It has taken us a month to get to that number of fans. So it's good we started that when we did. When you vote on the Pepsi page, you get to vote every day. It's great we have that many people ready to go when we need it.
