7up Mom....are you giving your son Ibuprofen? Are the rages tolerable? Let's all hope it is a bump and he will wake up better. Have you ruled out strep in family members yet?

 

They aren't as severe or violent as before, so def hoping it is not progressing to that again. I am at a separate house today ( thought this would be better for my husband to take care of him for the day- he can get more violent with me) but I am def going to be making a phone call to the dr to check everyone. He did have an uri starting so I wonder if it is a small reaction to that? Hopefully the augmenten will keep that under control and like you said just make it a bump in the road.

When my d was in the midst of a Pandas severe reaction '08 (crippling OCD and mild tics) we did a steroid burst (as Dr K called it--which seemed to indicate to me a "burst" effect, quick/relatively strong.)

 

The dose for the so-called "steroid burst" was (Prednisone 1 mg/kg of body weight as a single AM dose for five consecutive days). He advised that we watch her reaction to it carefully between day 3 and day 10. Important to note: in children 10 years or older it was noted that response to steroids may be delayed up to 3 - 4 weeks according to Dr K. We understood that a positive response (an objective and significant temporary reduction in her core symptoms) would further confirm the diagnosis. It did!

 

 

Thanks for posting this....i needed to hear the part about the 10yr old....i thought was what dr k said..but i've been trying to talk with him for 2 1/2 weeks and he finally emailed me saying he was out of town last week......

however if it weren't for the screech noise his motor tics seem deminished by about 15-20 % and it seems as if can control his vocals at school, but lets them out at home..also the vocal was almost gone to an almost throuat clear, till the day i had to refill his tooth,(gas, novacane {injection irritateing laranex}removal of mercury filling with new one, hole black with crud)..so did that ruin the burst effect???? or am i still having a positive response???
