LuluGirl
By the way, which would be better - adding Taurine to our Shaklee cal-mag (1200 mg calcium and 200 mg magnesium) or trying something new. I saw at the VitaminShoppe they had a Mag - Taurate from Cardiovascular Health. Anyone recognize that brand and is it as reputable as Shaklee? I did notice that Shaklee doesn't have the cal - mag ratio of 2:1.....Looking for reputable brand names and amounts!!! Thanks again, LuluGirl
Chemar
Hi there LuluGirl:) magnesium taurate is the optimum form of magnesium to use in TS as the magnesium is rapidly absorbed and so the effect is seen more rapidly. The Cardiovascular brand at The Vitamin Shoppe is very good. If you use mag taurate you should then add calcium and zinc to your regimin. If you are using a regular calcium/magnesium/zinc combo, taking a separate taurine at the same time is good as it still helps to speed the mineral absorption. The ratio on the Shaklee brand you mention is Waaaaaaaay out and is definitely delivering far too much calcium for the amount of magnesium. If you continue to use that, you should add more magnesium to your regimin to bring the ratio into the correct proportions. Unbalancing the ratio can actually have the opposite effect that you are looking to achieve.
