It's disgusting how the FDA allows HFCS to be labelled as "natural'. People, if its says all natural, still read it. That is not regulated by the FDA! Also when it says "sugar free", it doesn't always mean fruit sweetened. It usually means Splenda or aspartame has been added.

They grown corn now specifically for HFCS. When the corn is fully grown, you cannot eat it since it tastes awful and has nutrional value. In King Corn, it explained how this is the first time in history a farmer cannot feed his family from his own crops.

but I don't think the gluten free works unless you go all the way. not sure if I could do it.

my son isnt being ultra rigid because he doesnt have allergy to the gluten or the dairy.

But he avoids as much as possible, and completely at home

He was out with friends recently and his only choice was regular pasta and he had no negative effects from it.

he has also started introducing small amounts of the sprouted grain products by Food of Life/"Ezekiel" grains and has either the bread or the cereal each day now and noticed his system tolerates it well. We get the bread in the freezer of the organic section of our local publix supermarket, and the cereals there too.

we never eat white bread-rice-sugar etc. Refined foods are something I have always tried to avoid for all of us

I have to say that since my son made these changes, I have been eating differently too and I like the effect ^_^

Hi, just thought I'd echo some of Cheri's observations in that we try to keep it "clean" as far as our diet is concerned, especially gluten.

We have a long way to go, but the organic, fresh ingredients approach to every day is my focus right now. It's so easy to go a whole day eating nothing fresh. I think that fruits and veggies in their original, natural state, are a good way to fill up, get fiber, vitamins and minerals. Lots of carbs there, too. Also, when raw, they are loaded with enzymes. Entire books have been written about the benefits of enzymes, and I believe we'll be finding out more about these here, too.

Cheri, your list of treatments and dietary approach have help me a great deal. Thanks so much for making yourself so available.

Allison

p.s. -- organic corn by definition can't be GMO (genetically modified), so if you're not allergic, then organic corn might be a good choice. King corn looks great, although I've only seen the trailers.
