justinekno Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 My son takes magnesium glycinate per his dr. He takes 240 mg twice a day. I put the magnesium in a smoothie in the morning and then in the evening he takes it with pear sauce (can't swallow the capsules). We had testing done recently, after being on the magnesium after two months, and his number was 5.40 (normal range 4.2 - 6.8). Does anyone have any experience with magnesium? I am wondering if this is a correct dosage and if I am giving it to him in the best way for benefit. My son is 10 yrs old and 70 lbs.
MomWithOCDSon Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 My husband and I take magnesium as part of a mineral supplement, but I've never thought of giving it to my DS12. What is the magnesium supposed to do for your son? And were his levels abnormally low before you began the supplement?
Chemar Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 magnesium is used as the primary supplement to reduce TS tics (some research info at http://www.bonniegr.com ) around 400-500 mg a day is the usual dose
