We are in our summer vacation right now. and hence not been able to post a lot. . will catch up by August end.

Just a quick update that my son is doing VERY WELL these days. hope and pray the trend continues.

I have been having neck pain for the past two weeks. it subsided with a few pain killers and I was doing fine the whole of last week. Now, I seem to be having pain in my shoulder and hands (right hand).. a pain that is similar the one that we get when an injection is administered. the pain is more in the mornings and nights. I went to an ortho and he took an xray and said that IT MAY BE initial stages of spondylities. any clues on this with regard to natural methods. dont want to consume pain killers.. all this is new to me and would wait for your valuable inpuits. sorry , this is totally offtopic . just took the liberty of getting your advice!

Claire, GLAD to know that your son;s reports are so encouraging.

Hi efgh

so sorry to hear you are having discomfort! Hope you are still managing to have a good vacation.

Are you referring to Ankylising Spondylitis?? (there are variations on spondylitis and where it manifests)

It is a lot more unusual for it to occur in women, and it tends to be more prevalent in younger males.

Current research clearly points to it being autoimmune and researchers at King's College believe that there is a link to an overgrowth of an organism called Klebsiella ....

In an autoimmune reaction to excessive amounts of Klebsiella, the immune system attacks the spine. Controlling this dysbiosis by diet reduces symptoms of the disease. Klebsiella thrives on a diet rich in starch. Without starchy carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes and flour products, the number of Klebsiella are reduced in the gut and, subsequently, so is the production of antibodies to the bacteria that cause the inflammation. Patients were instructed to cut out bread, pasta, cereals of all sorts, rice and potatoes as well as sugary foods. They were unrestricted in eating vegetables, fruit, eggs, cheese, fish and meat. Over 200 patients have so far been through this program with the claim being made that the majority have had their disease process halted. One patient is quoted as saying "Once I stuck to the diet religiously, I noted a real improvement after six months or so. Movement became easier and the lethargy and depression lifted. The best way I can describe it is that after years of pain and stiffness I suddenly feel 'well-oiled'."

I also found this:

Some folks have also found relief from Cetyl-myristoleate, which is a waxy substance derived from the tallow of beef. It is similar in structure and activity to fatty acids. Although we don't know exactly how cetyl-myristoleate works, it is believed to act on memory T-cells in the immune system; i.e., it may "re-program" them so they do not attack one's own connective tissues. That is why it is so effective for autoimmune disorders, or those in which the body attacks itself. Treatment includes vitamin C, curcumin, lipoic acid, and a low-calorie, high-protein diet

There is also reference to the use of a Chinese herbal treatment called Lei Gong Teng (Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F)

Being that it is autoimmune, most natural treatments involve boosting the immune system, upping the antioxidants and eliminating allergens from the diet and environment.

I would definitely make sure that you get a very accurate diagnosis tho!
