matthew_76 Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Nice to meet everyone on here I have had TS for 22 years now (since I was 5 - do the math ) Diet, herbs, and other techniques can help somewhat.... The crux of the matter though, is dealing with stress. Way too many people nowadays let things get to them (example: "road rage") The more things that bother you, the less happy you will be. That goes for anyone. But for a TS patient, he has an extra incentive to let things go - I mean, really not be bothered at all - otherwise when he is frustrated, he will become very uncomfortable because of numerous tics. That has been my experience - I think there are some foods that trigger them though - caffeine isn't my friend I found (so I avoid it altogether) and perhaps other things as well. I think having too many high-sodium foods (canned goods, many frozen meats, etc.) raises your blood pressure, and makes them worse as well. Any comments? Matthew
Chemar Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Hi Matthew and welcome to Latitudes. yes, I certainly do agree that stress is a big tic trigger in Tourette Syndrome. I do see that with my son, tho interestingly even good excitement can set of a round of tics too Have you read the article here on other tic triggers..? http://latitudes.org/articles/finding_triggers.htm We look forward to hearing lots more from you.
