Hi Ladies, I have not posted in ages b/c we have had a rough couple of months. I posted about a month ago about how I thought that maybe my son was experiencing an overdose of zithromax, as he went completely manic and violent on us, much different from anything I have ever seen with PANDAS. Well, this began when he was on the second day of a high dose of zithromax. So we stopped using antibiotics all together and I started him on a very high dose probiotic. Slowly but surely he came back around but he still had some low-level depression and irritability left that looked very much like PANDAS. So after a month we tried him on a low dose of penicillin and within 24 hours he became violent again!! So we are convinced that he has some very bad gut issues right now (bacteria, yeast) and that he simply needs a very long break from meds.

I recently tried a product called Biocidin (you can look it up online) under my doctors advice, and we are very impressed with the results. Right away, within hours, he was a very happy boy and very relaxed. I was so surprised that I got on the internet to look up each individual herb in this product to see what they do and many of them are anit-inflammatory, anibacterial, and antiviral (which is perfect for a kid like mine who has some PITAND issues as well). I thought I would pass this along for anyone who is looking for an alternative to antibiotics. Can I guarantee that it will prevent strep? No, that remains to be seen. However, I have pulled my son out of school and we are being vigilent with the antibacterial gel and being very judicious about where we take him...

Hope that helps!

BTW, I have heard alot about Red Reishi Mushroom extract being quite anti-inflammatory, immune-modulating and also antibacterial, antiviral, etc...This will be my next experiment as an alternative to steroids.
