Zith and Azith...ok, I think I use them interchangeablely.. I thought

I just noticed Vickies post and she made reference to zith and azith. Why did I think they were the same thing? I just looked at my son's prescription and his says azithromyacin. So is that not zithromax?

I think one is brand name, one is generic.

Thanks! I thought maybe I was completely misunderstanding what my son was taking. Makes sense because I would have the generic one.

azithromycin is the generic for the brand Zithromax. they are the same.

I remember someone saying that the brand of Zith their child takes make a difference though.
