I don't know how safe clindimycin is long term? If I were you I would ask about going on daily Azith. (perhaps 500mg/day) esp. since your son has responded to that in the past and it seems pretty safe for long term use.

EAMom Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Here is a study (acne) that says Clindamycin seems to be safe long term http://archderm.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/112/1/53 Hopefully Danny's skin is now acne-free as well! btw I wonder if Acne can contribute to PANDAS symtpoms? It is an infection after all!

It is an infection after all! Thats funny that you say that about acne When danny is at his worst tics and behavior, I notice his face has pimples , when hes at his best his skin looks better.I always thought hum acne hormones testosterone pimples(oh and risperadal) but maybe its the other way around the pimples cause an exeserbation(sp) of symptoms.I love this forum! thereishope Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 If you start an antibiotic, acne will worsen for the first 3 months before it starts to clear up.
ajcire Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Wait, I don't know if this is what you are talking about but my son gets what we have called almost a rash but not really... it's like it's pimples but very faint.. not noticeable to someone just glancing at him but you can feel them and you can see them if you are looking.... When I asked the dr. about it he just didn't seem concerned. I need to track when exactly it comes out cause it comes out and stays around and then seems to just go away. He's only 7....it definitely doesn't give the appearance of a kid with an acne problem and I know it's not just him having acne.... but it's like raised pimples (colorless so it blends in with his skin).
