ilovedogs
ARRGGHH! My son has just started ticcing like crazy. We are traveling for a tennis tournament for him and he just started adding some new tics. He was already doing some eye winking and a breathing tic where he breathes out(kinda like he's giving a quick laugh exhalation and it makes his body jerk a bit). But, now he's added in eyebrow raising, eye movements, and a bit of a facial grimace. I'm wondering if it's the hotel room or something? We travel all the time and he's never increased ticcing like this before. The only supplements I have with me are his glycine and PS100(phosphaditylserene) and his Kavinace(from Neuroscience) for his OCD. I guess I could go out and get some B6 or magnesium but I've never seen quick results from either one of these supps. I just hope the tics don't get in the way of his tournament tennis playing! Oh, and he's sniffing his fingers like crazy. He's always done this on and off but it's really increased since we got here! OI! I can't wait to find out how everyone does with Dr Simms. If some of you have success that lasts, I will make the trip to MD and find a doc/dentist here who will work with us and with Dr Simms! CSP
Hi Bonnie, You said he does not tic while traveling, but do you think it could be the excitment of playing in a tournament? My son would tic like crazy when his team was doing well and advancing in the brackets. Are you in another state or just a diff. city in AZ? ilovedogs
Hi Bonnie, You said he does not tic while traveling, but do you think it could be the excitment of playing in a tournament? My son would tic like crazy when his team was doing well and advancing in the brackets. Are you in another state or just a diff. city in AZ? CP We're in a different city, higher elevation, etc. Well, he didn't tic any more than normal when we were in Flagstaff a few weeks ago. I actually don't see him increase tics when he's playing tournaments, it's really weird b/c I would have thought that would increase it. We left the hotel room earlier and I noticed that the tics tapered off so I'm thinking it's the hotel room itself. It does have a funky smell, maybe moldy? Not sure! Also, he's had a headache since yesterday afternoon and I gave him ibuprofen this AM. He said it took the edge off but didn't take the headache away. I think it's allergy related b/c he's been sneezing all week and congested in the AM and he says the head pain is just above the eyebrows. Sounds like sinuses. Not sure what to give him for this other than allergy meds but since we're away from home, I don't know what's available around here and I can't contact the doctor b/c it's the weekend anyway. Chemar
so sorry to hear this Bonnie it does sound like maybe the hotel room could be triggering the waxing...??pesticide?? maybe or cleaning fluids, or as you say maybe mold or some chemical in the carpet, wood etc? if they have a Vitamin Shoppe nearby, cant hurt to try some Natural Calm and see if any relief hope he manages to still do well in the tournament! ilovedogs
thanks Cheri! He'll do fine. You know, he woke up this AM and was fine and then he turned on the TV and I saw the tics start again. Maybe it's TV. We don't watch much TV at home and I have noticed his tics more when he's watching tv or playing on the computer. His eye tics happen all the time no matter what but the other ones seem to be coming on when that darn TV is on. I did buy some B6 and gave him some last night. We've tried the natural calm but I never see any benefit from it, but I might give it a shot today(I know where to find some up here) if the tics don't calm down. Thanks! Chemar
well you know if Claire were here now she would say AHA! re the TV it could be that combined with the "different" environmental triggers that may be in the hotel room really hope things calm so that you can enjoy the time away
ilovedogs
Well, I certainly won't have trouble finding 'natural' health food stores and herbal shops around here. I'm in Sedona, AZ!! This place is as natural as they come! They don't have a Walmart or a Target up here but they have a natural market and herb shop on every corner, LOL!
