Guest
I need to start thinking about a different insurance plan since I will be 24 in June and won't be on my dad's insurance anymore. The insurance plan I'm considering doesn't have mental health coverage. Is Tourette Syndrome considered a pre-existing condition under the medical part of insurance or mental health part of insurance? I need to make sure that I will be able to eventually add on mental health insurance coverage if I don't take it for the next year. None of my doctors in the last several years have even filed my treatment for TS as Tourette Syndrome, but I still have that previous diagnoses of Tourette Syndrome. guy123
What additional expenses does TS cause you to incur besides occasional visits to the neuro and maybe some medication? Is it significant enough that being labeled as "TS" on your insurance will cause your rates to go up? Just curious.
Guest
guy, For me having the label of TS has never caused my rates to go up. I've been on group insurance most of the time and also individual insurance and my rates are the same as anyone else. My only concern is if I have a lack of mental health coverage for a year if that will affect getting mental health coverage in the future. Thanks Chemar, I'll check with the TSA a post back what I find out. Carolyn
