CSP Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Hi all, Not sure how many people have food dehydrators? We are having lots of fun drying and eating fruit. Can't wait for the summer fruits to dry. Great snacks for the kids. Very healthy too. Also my youngest does not like bananas, but she did like them dried. You all may have some luck getting your picky eaters to try fruit dried. I thought the fruit tasted better then dried fruit you get at the store, because there was nothing added to the fruit. I decided to dry my own because of the nut allergies. Most packaged dried fruit... we risk the traces of nuts. Also great education tool, my youngest daughter has an American Girl book talk every couple of months and we are drying fruit so the girls can get an idea of what the American Girls were eating during their time period. Char Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 CSP, Thanks for the great idea. I am always looking for new fun healthy snacks that my son can eat. What fruits have you dried and do you have to add anything when they are in the food dehydrator? Thanks Char...
CSP Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Hi Char, I baught a 5 tray dehydrator at Target for less then $40.00. I have done nothing to the fruit except put lemon juice on the apples to keep them from turning real brown. So far the kids favs are the pineapple and apples. The kiwi was sour, but they thought it was like eating sour candy. We dried apples, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, mangos. CP
Chemar Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 I think we have the same dehydtrator CP I love it!!
