kc_litgal
Hi, I'm brand new here... just bought Intramax after reading some of the many posts, but it seems to be a tic trigger for my 5 year old son. Could that really be?? Has anyone else had a similar reaction?? Maybe its his emotional/stress reaction. I will give it a good 30 days before I draw a conclusion. Are there other alternatives to an Intramax type of product??
Caryn
Hi, I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and try to help. I looked at the website on the product (we've never used it), and I noticed that it contains bee pollens. Do you know if your child has a bee allergy? Just a thought. Also, I noticed that it is high in copper and low in magnesium. In our case when we had our son tested by our Dan doc they discovered that he was high in copper (which can cause depression). Anyway, copper competes with zinc. Our son has a condition called pyroluria that when it flairs can increase tics. (Pyroluria drains the blood's magnesium, zinc, and B6 vitamin stores.) Some folks that have kids with tics/Tourette's have found that their kids also have pyroluria. We were advised to avoid copper in all our supps because of this. Copper is found in many foods in our regular diets. So the imbalance could make things worse. I may be way off here, but based on my personal experience this is what I saw when I read your post and looked at the ingredient listing and RDA amounts. It may be completely unrelated. lurker
Hi, I have another guess, but I need some help. In just the last several days someone, maybe Lindsey, mentioned that amino acids aggravated a child's tics. I looked at Intramax months ago, and I remember a ton of aminos. Amino acids, anyone? Chemar
yup some dopaminergic amino acids (eg tyrosine, phenylalanine) aggravate TS tics while some may help (taurine, carnitine) so it is real important IMO to be careful of treatments for people with TS that incorporate broad spectrum of amino acids rather than just the specific beneficial ones I honestly know nothing on intramax and think only one or 2 members here have tried it? Toms_Mom
Taurine for some reason really aggravated my sons tics. It took a whole week for him to settle down after taking it. I tried another one too, can't remember the name right now, that aggravated his tics as well. Mary
