Running NYC Marathon for Tourette Syndrome

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Damien, I am running the New York City Marathon this November on behalf of the Tourette Syndrome Association. My mission is not only to pound the pavement for 26.2 miles but to raise 2500 dollars for this charity. Along with me are the rest of the team members running for the same cause. Our efforts towards the TSA charity will help support the program to help treat and possibly even cure TS. I am confident that by November, I will have the 2500 TSA needs to support their program to find a cure.

You can help by either donating any amount possible and by passing the link provided below along to your family and friends. This will help TSA greatly and I will be able to represent them, the donors, my family, and myself. I am confident that by November, TSA will be 2500 dollars closer to a cure!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

You know..God forgive me if this is legitimate..and I apologize beforhand if it is, but, I would urge all considering donating to be very careful and to look into this very closely before doing anything. The site asks for your cc #, etc. I don't know..red flags went up for me.

I don't blame you for considering it to be a scam but it isn't. If you want you can even e-mail or call TSA (Tourette Syndrom Association)...the director's email is michelle.staley@tsa-usa.org, or call her at 718-224-2999. My name is Damien Alpizar you can ask for me and double check.

I will find to prove to you some how...I mean I don't know what else to tell you. The fact that 3 people besides me have donated and the hyperlink name looks legit. It is given to all the Team TSA member running for the same cause.

I am having a hard time convincing people that Tourette is a serious disorder and therefore I am having a hard time reaching my goal of 2,500. I thought to myself, maybe I should pass by forum boards with TS as their topic. Maybe people that deal with or have someone with the disorder can understand and be willing to donate.

The internet is a vicious animal I know but with this reply and the fact that I can link (but don't want to yet unless forum admins and mods give me the 'ok' to do so) a forum board of orchids that have replies of people that know me and have donated.

I hope I have shown that this is obviously not a scam. The link is just there to make it easier for you donate and for me to reach my goal.

Chemar, thank you for the kind welcome and for the chance to have me stick around and try to make a difference with TSA. I hope ACN Online will help me get a little closer to TSA's goal.

Sadly, with the internet you have to be with your ears up and your eyes open...if not you will get eaten like prey.

Again thank you and have a great day!

Hello,

I ran in the Disney marathon in FL, January 2007. It was fun, we used it as a vacation. It was me, dh, dd, ds, my mom, and niece. I wanted to run the full marathon, but it would have taken away from spending time with my kids so we all did the family 5K. We did it for my dd and we ended up raising $8,000. To us it wasn't about how much money we could raise, but about spreading awareness of Tourettes. I mailed flyers with every letter I sent out. At the time my dd was 9 and we just found out why she always did the things that she did. She's had TS since the age of 4, we just never heard of it. You can imagine how horrible we felt once we realized she really could not help it. We wanted to do the marathon to show my dd that she can make a difference and she wanted to be able to help others with TS. Good luck to you! We are members of the TSA and it is a great place for beginners to get information about ts. They were a blessing to us when we first discovered what ts was. For all who are worried about it being the right place to donate, it is.
