Difference between Probiotics and Dig Enzymes?

Recommended Posts

Have you tried spelt bread?

We have only two grocery stores (Whole Foods and HEB Central Market) that actually bake loaves of it and it is really good!

I learned about spelt flour and bread from a friend of mine who erradicated wheat and refined sugar from her family's diet.

She uses an exact exchange of honey in place of suger in recipes (1 cup honey in place of 1 cup sugar), and spelt in place of wheat flour.

Awesome taste and texture to her baking.

Spelt bread tastes great and we notice we feel better. There are spelt crackers and snacks, also.

Just thought I'd share the info...

what is the difference (if any) between the many brands of digestive enzymes and the probiotics???

Do they fairly all work basically the same and for the same foods?

I have been reading on many but am confused as always.....

They are very different substances and do different things

digestive enzymes assist in the breakdown/ metabolism etc of foods

our bodies make enzymes to to this naturally but in some these may be deficient or when food intolerances are present, then more enzyme action aids digestion

probiotics are "good" bacteria that one ingests to maintain healthy GIT

Chemar...I read about what they do and can understand. But the question I had was is there a difference between the brands?

I ordered some chewables of both the digestive enzymes and a probiotic to go along but one of the posters mentioned her brand dealt with more food issues? That is where my confusion comes in.

Thanks so much for your help....I truly appreciate your responses!

oops sorry was skimming thru this morning and thought you were asking whether they were the same in action *blush*

the Nature's Herbs Digest-ease form we use is plant derived enzymes. our physician isnt keen on animal source enzymes for a number of reasons

re probiotics...we have tried various brands but always return to plain kefir
