Tx,

I just started the Acetyl-L-Carnitine too. I baught the Now brand in the 100% pure powder. I only gave him a tiny amount, so I could not say how many mgs he got, but I did notice it did not help with the vocals going away, but he seemed to change the sound. It was like a wimper and not his normal loud "huh" vocal. He is on spring break so I have a few days to play around with stuff before he goes back to school.

Some progress with the L Carnitine. Giving her 250mg daily, I have noticed the vocal tic toned down at least 60 to 70 %. Should I increase it ? Need input guys. Don't know if it is going away on it's own or the L Carnitine has something to do with it. Hate to stop giving it to her and loose the progress.

TX911 -- Sending good thoughts your way! I spoke to our doctor about these supplements, mostly because I want immediate results when the symptoms start. Often, I do feel I can see a negative reaction within hours -- but have never really seen a strong positive reaction in that short a period of time. I still am not sure why that is. But, my doctor said that for many supplements, it can take 1-3 weeks to reach what he called a "therapeutic level." He said once you reach a therapeutic level, you might see results that you wouldn't see in, say, a day.
