Genetic Heavy Metal Toxicity

Wow...for any of you who remember that I'd been writing a book, I finally finished it, and it's now published. It took nearly two years to do all the research and writing, because I'm a very busy momma to my two precious boys. To freshen anyone's memory who forgot my history:

I have mild TS and symptoms of AS and slight symptoms of OCD. When my older son was a baby, I realized he had TS, too....except, I didn't know what TS was. I just knew he and I both had something "wrong" with us. When he was ten months old, I finally found discovered that I had symptoms of TS, AS, and OCD.

Twelve days after my second son was born, he stopped breathing, I did CPR and called for help, and to make a long story short, he was resuscitated by intubation after a long time w/o oxygen, so we took him off life support after 17 days in the hospital (he couldn't breathe on his own). It was during his stay in the hospital that I realized TS and SIDS were linked.

I was determined to know why my son died. I dedicated my book, Genetic Heavy Metal Toxicity, in memory of his life. The book is recommended for anyone who wants a better understanding of what part genetics plays in toxicity. As Luther Burbank said, "Heredity is nothing but stored environment."

It is my hope that people will stop poisoning themselves, b/c they are passing on their genetic damage on to their children.

And as an update to anyone who remembers my story and is wondering how things are going now, my son is now 4.5, and though he has tics and other minor problems, he functions quite normally and is a very bright child. I now have another infant son, currently eight months of age. He's started demonstrating the same symptoms my older son exhibited when he was that age--mostly "freezing" and arm flapping. He also wakes up several times to nurse and is sometimes very fussy. But, I love him dearly, and I have confidence that he'll be fine, too. I'm just thankful that I have him. I'll always miss the son whom I lost.

Tara,

Thank you for sharing your story. Makes me feel good to think I am helping my kids be healthy so hopefully they will have healthy kids.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. You must be a very strong lady to pick up the pieces, and use what you have learned to help others. I thank you.

God Bless,

C.P.

tarabeara,

thank you for sharing your story, I am sorry for the loss you have experienced.

I am very impressed on your accomplishement and congratulations on getting published. Could you tell us a little more about what the book covers? Do you have any opinions on the benefits of chelation? Do you do chelation with your 4 yr old?

Thank you both.

We've eaten mostly organic and by biblical dietary laws for over four years, since my older son was an infant. We now eat 100% organic.

I went through 2 bottles of PCA-Rx with my son when he was about three years of age. It seemed to help somewhat, but I stopped using it, b/c I realized it used some sort of seaweed [i'm opposed to using seaweed]. Several months ago, I bought some clay and started giving him clay baths. I don't know whether that was really helping. I still have quite a bit of it, and I'm thinking of doing those again. I don't have any really major problems with him, except for bedwetting. He is a bit hyper (but I'm not sure how much of that is just "boy"), and he has some tics, but at the current time it's nothing major. He has some sensory problems. For example, he refuses to wear underwear, b/c they "bother [him]." He hates the elastic. He's very picky about clothes. At times, he can have some behavior problems, but he's always an angel in public, and we always get a lot of praise and awe that he's so well-behaved. He can't draw, color, or write like other kids his age, but I'm not too concerned about that yet. I still can't draw very well! LOL! In many areas, he's way ahead of other kids, so I'm not overly concerned yet about any of the things where he seems behind.

I still have two amalgam fillings. I'd like to have them removed some day. I'm nursing a baby right now, and I feel as if I'm passing on mercury to him, but I feel as if nursing him is still the best thing. Having the fillings removed now, though, is a bigger danger to him than waiting until he weans.....

So, that's where we stand right now.

I get contradicting reports, though, concerning removal of amalgams and detoxing for metals. Some things I read discuss detoxing when a person still has amalgam fillings, and other sources seem to imply that a person ought to detox only after amalgam removal. Is anyone here extremely knowledgeable on this subject? (I wouldn't detox right now, anyway, since I'm nursing, but my husband also has fillings that need to be removed.) I started detoxing for metals right before I became pregnant with my now-infant son, and once I discovered I was pregnant, I discontinued. I had started to use the PCA-Rx, but then I started taking encapsulated cilantro with freshly squeezed lemon juice in my water.

My book covers such things as: Tourette's, autism and Asperger's, SIDS, Alzehimer's, OCD, migraines, diabetes and hypoglycemia, PUPPP [a pregnancy rash], learning disabilities and left-handedness, behavioral and sexual disorders, eating disorders. I have a miscellaneous chapter that briefly discusses many subjects (I think over twenty in just that chapter) including: lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, candidiasis, down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, cancer, reproductive problems, etc.
