Len
Dear All, My 7 year old son, who has autism, just developed a tic in his neck about 4 days ago. It is as frequent as every 5 seconds to several minutes between episodes. We have used td-dmps chelator for 2 1/4 years now and began EDTA suppositories the last couple months to address lead. We wonder if the tic is a side effect of the chelator, especially with the addition of EDTA. We have dropped the chelation once the tics appeared and were close to winding down in the next month anyway. He is also on supplements monitored by Pfeiffer Treatment Center, is GFCF, had HBOT (last segment over 1 1/2 ago--140 treatments to date). We also do a FIR sauna with him a couple times a week to help move toxins out. My fear is that we may have pushed him to hard on the chelating and wonder if anyone else may have similar experience with tics as a side effect to chelation. Or is there something else you see going on here? We pray this is temporary and any suggestions to help him are very much appreciated. Sincerely, Len
P_Mom
Hi.. if the tics came on out of the blue... has he been sick? You should get him tested for strep just in case even without symptoms.
faith
hello Len, since you are obviously under the guidance of a doctor for the chelation, you could inquire about this -- I'm not sure, but yeast is something that could be an issue during chelation. (I forget which is supposed to be addressed first.) The neck tic could be a symptom of that. Faith
Len
Hi.. if the tics came on out of the blue... has he been sick? You should get him tested for strep just in case even without symptoms. Our son almost never gets sick, but he did come home about a week ago with flu symptoms (vomiting mostly). We will definitely check this out with his doctor. So a tic can be a side effect of strep? If so, does it go away at some point? Len

kim
Len, We have a couple of posters here who have a lot of experience with chelation and or lead. Claire and Andy don't post much anymore, but are a wealth of information. Carolyn (not Carolyn N) is also doing chelation. You might want to Private Message Andy. His son is near your sons age. He may still read here once in a while, if not, he will still probably get an email notifying him of a private message. Carolyn still posts, so maybe she'll be along. I bumped a thread with posts from Andy and Claire. If you click on their names, you can get to an option where you can read their posts. Claire's son was also doing the Pfeiffer protocol and had lead issues. She found eliminating screens (TV, computer etc) to be a tic factor for her son. Maybe as the lead is being mobilized with the EDTA, your son has had this flair? I though yeast and strep were good bets too.
Len
Kim, Thanks for your input. He has been on the tv and computer alot lately, so we will reduce and see what happens. His tic seems to be settling down a bit. Len Len, We have a couple of posters here who have a lot of experience with chelation and or lead.
