Guest
I found a good dariy free cheese that I think works well for pizza. It's a block of cheese so I just shreaded it. It's called Vagan Rella Mozzarella Style. I hope this helps and that some of your children will also like this type of cheese on pizza, etc. Carolyn
kallik
Carolyn, is it casein free too? Where can you buy it? Thanks.
faith
Hi carolyn, thanks, cause I want to tighten up on dairy, -- is it soy though? I try to stay away from that too. Faith
Guest
I believe that it's casein free. It says on the package no dairy along with lactose-free. I don't see any dairy ingredients listed, so if someone knows something more about it please let me know. It appears to be casein free to me. It's a rice cheese & I don't think it contains soy. Here's the ingredients: filtered water, tapioca startch, brown rice flour, organic canola oil(non-hydrogenated expeller pressed), salt, xanthan gum, carob bean gurn, guar gum, carrageenan, oat flour, natural flour. I bought it at a local health food store. Carolyn
Tattoomom
I use "FOLLOW YOUR HEART" brand. It's a vegan cheese alternative. Gluten free, casein free. It comes in many different cheese varieties. (mozzarella, cheddar, Monterey jack, etc...) It's a block and I just use my cheese grader to put it on pizza, tacos etc... It's sold in the refrigerator section of my health food store. Tricia
Guest
Tricia, Is the cheese that you mentioned good on Cheeseburgers? I tried cheeder cheese that was dairy & soy free for cheeseburgers, but it tasted so bad. Carolyn
Tattoomom
Carolyn, We haven't tried it on cheeseburgers but I don't see why the cheddar wouldn't be good! Tricia
kallik
What is the name of the Health Food store you get "Follow Your Heart" from? Does it really taste good? It would be wonderful if my son enjoys it, on pizza especially and tacos. Thanks
Tattoomom
I get it from local health food stores in my area. We don't have any of the chains (Wild Oats, Whole Foods, Etc...) but I'm sure you can get it at any of your local or chain health food stores. It comes in a block sealed in plastic just like regular block cheese does. The good thing about the brand is it actually melts!
