lukesmom
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good toothpaste? My son starts grinding his teeth very badly everytime he brushes his teeth.I have tried most of the brand names on the market and can't kind find one that works for him.I don't know if it is the texture or an ingredient in the paste.I really need help with this as his teeth are very crooked but I know he would not be able to tolerate braces as mouth tics are the worst for him.I want him to keep his teeth clean but it is a battle everyday. Caryn
When we had our son tested by Alcat we found out he had an intolerance to flouride. He was a teeth grinder too. We switched his toothpaste to Tom's (bought at whole foods). It is all natural. He stopped grinding his teeth, but it had nothing to do with toothpaste IMO. Teeth grinding and bedwetting both stopped when we took him off of wheat and corn. Hope this helps.
Chemar
Hi tooth grinding aka bruxism can also be a tic, best helped by extra vitaminB5(pantothenic acid) my son found tooth powders or gels to be better than pastes as his SID does make him hypersensitive to certain textures, paste being one he uses the fluoride free tom's naturals gel or the tooth powder from our dentist fluoride has a very negative effect on my son
Herb garden
Not sure if the teeth grinding is related to the toothpaste. There are many reasons can lead to bruxism. victoriaherbs has a herbal treatment for teeth grinding. Maybe you can try it. Good luck
QsMom
We too use Tom's of Maine. Flouride seems to be ok for my son so he uses the Children's orange Tangerine flavor. We tried strawberry but he did not like the taste. My son used to grind him teeth at night only. Since we took away milk, thankfully, this seemed to have stopped.
