Silviatx
Hello I want to introduce myself now that i have decided to seek help for my tick. I have a very severe tic and constantly have move my neck. I have little control over it. I am a little worried because the literature mostly just speaks about children and how they would grow out of it. Who else here is an adult here with a tic? My tic didnt start until i was in my early twenties right after my parents got a divorce. That was also when i started takiok. ng anti-depressant. The tic got after a while but totally flared up right before I got married. I also realized that it was noticeable to other people because some asked about it behind my back. I think what followed for the next 10.years was a mild tic that I could live it. I also got off antidepressant ar that time. The tic intensied again in my 30s and is almost unbearable now. I know it's stress related. I watched a video from my graduation recently and oh my god i looked so embarrassing when i walked across the stage, throwing my head forward and back. I have decided i can't live like this anymore and want to fight out what i can do. My depression got also very severe again and i have been on meds since then. Sometimes i have anxiety attacks.i also.have really bad insomnia and got checked out for that. They could not find anything. I also have light Add and moderate OCd. I have had hyperhidrosis since childhood and have learned to live with it although shaking someones hand because i know they must be disgusted by my sweaty palm. So where should I go from here? Any tips for my specific situation? Sorry for typos, i am on the phone
Chemar
Hello Silviatx The same basic natural treatments for tics, TS & OCD seem to be helpful for adults as well so I think perhaps worth investigating? We have a lot of threads here on natural ways to treat tics and OCD http://latitudes.org...?showtopic=2459 and our admin Sheila Rogers has a helpful resource book about it as well http://latitudes.org...-syndrome-book/ There's also a lot of helpful info on the website http://latitudes.org...tics-tourettes/ I have an adult son who manages to still keep his tics, OCD & ADD well managed by natural methods (diet, supplements & healthy environment) as he has since childhood
Dan2018
Hi, 28 here and suffered with tics since I was young. Family never supported with it. they disappeared through college but came back when I was 20 ish. i find it hard when you search for info as advise is always aimed at parents for young children which is really good but there seems little support for adults. TSA are good at raising awareness but since their forums closed they seem a bit useless for people actually suffering with tics, it’s all aimed at parents. i found it good reading people’s stories and chatting with them as you do feel like it’s just you sometimes. ive just emailed a few acupuncture places, want to give it a go. i work in a school, kids ask why my shoulder keeps twitching. I used to be really embarrassed, it’s funny though as they all seem to get it when I explain. feel free to pm me.
