Talking to oneself-is this a tic?

Hi all maybe someone here can give me some info on this.

 

My grandma talks to herself when she is doing dishes, cooking..., but not while she is talking to someone or sitting there with company.

 

My mom does not know when she started this, but suspects that it has to do with her abusive husband and hardship of living thru depression and raising kids by herself.

 

I am wondering if this is along the line of tic or other neurological problems.

Hi Patty, I sometimes talk to myself when I'm alone. I don't think it's neurological as it's not a constant or compulsive thing. Usually it's when I'm stressed out and trying to sort things out in my head. Sometimes I'm just talkin' to God.
