Hi, I am new to this forum and the Latitudes site and I'm amazed by all the support and resources found here. I hope someone will be able to advise me.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 14 years old. He tried ritalin for two weeks and started having tics (which he had not had before) so we took him off of it. The tics have continued since then- he is 19 now. They affect his jaw, neck and shouders. His doctor put him on xenazine, 75mg about a year ago. They have greatly reduced his tics, but he is so tired from the pills that I would like to find a way to be able to reduce of elminate them altogether.

I must admit that I wasn't aware that there were natural alternatives for treating tics until recently. Now I am trying to become informed. I would like to try one of the treatments suggested in these forums, but I know my son will not follow something that involves a lot effort, consistency or complication. I have seen articles and posts about magnesium as treatment for tics as well as ADHD, in pill or cream form. I would like to know if others have tried this and recommend it. And if so, as pills or cream?

Thanks!

Hi

Sorry not replies yet.

We found magnesium very helpful for tics and used it both orally as well as transdermally in the form of Epsom Salts baths

There is now a great Magnesium lotion made by Mortons available at Walgreens and some Walmarts
