ejsuthe
Our 5 year old son started having several motor tics five months ago and now has an occasional vocal (throat clearing). After reading Sheila's book, we have decided to have his blood work done and have him allergy tested. In the meantime, I'm cutting out all dairy (just to start somewhere) and will reintroduce it to see if we see a difference. However, he seemed to have an increase in tics AND our normally sweet natured boy has had some serious emotional outbursts. (bit himself, pinched himself) He has punched himself in the stomach before because he was having some internal tics but this was different. He was mad. The instigator was a toy he was unhappy with but that is not normally what he would do. He'd say "I'm angry but I don't know why. What is wrong with me?" It just breaks my heart. Is it normal to see an increase in tics when first cutting out allergens/toxins?
Chemar
Hi there is sometimes a "worse before it gets better" when one does anything new so it could be that? Also if you are not compensating for the calcium, magnesium vitamin D etc in dairy by supplementing it, then you may be seeing the results of imbalance in his nutrients?
