clickinmom Posted July 7, 2014 Report Share Posted July 7, 2014 When combing my daughter's hair tonight, I noticed a large bump on the top of her head. It's at least 2" in diameter and as hard as her skull. It's right in the vicinity of the tick we found attached two months ago. She's had multiple swollen lymph nodes and currently the most prominent is behind her ear. Her doctor looked at it a week and a half ago and put her on antibiotics. She finished the 10 day course yesterday. She has an appointment with an infectious disease specialist at the end of the month. It was the soonest they could get her in. With the lump on her scalp, I'm more convinced than ever that all her symptoms are related to the tick. But is there anything I can do in the meantime before the ID appointment? Are hard lumps like these common after tick bites? Her pediatrician is convinced the tick bite has nothing to do with what's been going on. :/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you are having trouble making that leap of faith based on advice from people on the internet, please read the book "Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic" by Pamela Weintraub. This book will give you a more in-depth understanding of Lyme, its myriad symptoms, why an LLMD is the best doctor to see if you suspect Lyme, why the tests are so unreliable, why doctors frequently miss or misdiagnose it, and why seeing an infectious disease doctor will most likely be a waste of your time. If no one answers this thread, I would start a new one with a topic such as "Need Pediatric LLMD in Illinois" (fill in your state). PowPow Posted July 8, 2014 Report Share Posted July 8, 2014 I am not suggesting that the lymph nodes be ignored, as a potential sign on infection (though there can be other causes). However, please explore the possiblity that the lump could be a granuloma. They can last for months or even years after a tick bite. I am not sure what her symptoms are- PANS? or fever, muscle &joint aches? The tick bite may have everything or nothing to do with what is going on. It is a real crap shoot, to be honest. Just read into granulomas or dermatoses after a tick bite-- maybe you will feel a bit better after you compare that to your daughter's lump.
