FallingApart
Hello, We've been at this journey for over 5 Yeats now and in that time my pandas dd has only had a positive strep culture 1 time. (Always shows in titers but not a swab). Yesterday our ped found strep on dds teeth!! She said she has been finding this more and more on teeth. I'm thrilled to have found strep in dd, but what does this mean? Ped and I worked out a plan, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks! colleenrn
How did she determine it was strep? My children also do not usually have a positive culture either. One of them has terrible dental problems. How are you treating for it? TIA, Colleen

FallingApart
I don't think it has to do w dental problems. Ped had dd rub the Swabb all over her teeth. Came back pos. dd has itchy and irritated nether regions as well but that test was neg. I would expect that to be neg bc of the daily abx. The ped, however, still thinks that is strep as well. We are tx with a periodontal mouthwash and switched to clindamyacin. Would love to hear any other stories/thoughts on this!
PowPow
Was it Group A strep? (Strep-throat-causing bug) Or a different strain?
FallingApart
Regular old, PANDAS causing strep. Group A. Note, this swab was not done on her throat, only the teeth and I'm thinking gums. My dd did the swab herself.
