pasquale61
Will Coxsackie cause PANDAS like symptoms? I don't want to do a 10 day course of Valtrex if its just a shot in the dark. Also, has anyone had Valtrex compounded? My DS will not take a pill. Has anyone had experience with Valtrex? Thanks
3bmom
We take Valcyclovir which I believe is the generic. My DS was positive for HHV-6. We benefitted more than the antibiotic for that flare. We are still on it 2 years later, first for titers to get in normal range and now as a prophylactic. We take it 3x a day. You can get it in liquid form. My older son was put on it at age 2 for 7 years for recurring cold sores, (every 10 days). He has dyslexia but I always wonder if he would of got Autism since it all cascaded during vaccinations. I wonder if 10 days will be enough. I was just put on it for shingles. I felt amazing since it seemed to help my chronic fatigue.
pasquale61
Thanks 3Bmom. Dr. prescribed 500mgs. 1 TSP PO BID for 10 days in addition to maintenance dose of Biaxin every other day. I'm going to fill script and give it a try. However I'm concerned about dyes and sweeteners in liquid compounded form.
3bmom
The liquid form for my older son at that time didn't have dyes but my son said it tasted terrible. I had to wash off the dyes of my other sons pills until we switched brands. I hope this medication helps, keep me posted.
ktdommer
Three of us take 3 grams of valtrex a day. The pharmacist now orders the white tablets so we don't have to wash of the blue covering. Our compounding pharmacy works with special dietary or medical needs when compounding. Haven't needed it in liquid form. We don't seem to have any side effects from it. Been on it years! Good luck.
