trintiybella
I am giving magnesium to my child but have read it's not okay if you have bartonella. Anyone else hear this? Do not want to do anymore harm to her. Thanks!
rowingmom
Some LLMDs think that by starving bacteria of the nutrients (minerals/fats/protein) they require, they can weaken the infection. Stephen Buhner thinks it's important to supplement minerals/nutrients that the infections are parasitising in order to support the proper function of the body. That a body strong body will be more capable of dealing properly with infection and that a body weakened by nutrient deficiencies (and it's symptoms) will eventually just succomb to that weakness. I happen to think Buhner is right. Parasites don't care about the condition of the body and will keep removing nutrients until there is nothing left to remove. At this point the patient will no longer be functioning. We supplement magnesium (magnesium citrate) and find it helpful. Mg is also important for the methylation cycle. http://gotmag.org/mg-deficiency-affects-mthfr-really/
cobygurl
I agree with rowingmom. We were told that if the parasite is using up those minerals, the only way a person will get better will be by strengthening the body and by replacing those minerals as the body desperately needs them to combat the infection. 3bmom
Thanks Rowingmom for the article. I don't know much on methylation and that is one of the reasons I joined this forum. I don't know when the article was written but the biggest Magnesium stressor is Round-up ready crops like soy, canola, cotton etc. I think I have mentioned this before but Round-up is patented as an Antibiotic. 80% of antibiotic exposure is from food. The way Round-up works is by chelating minerals from the weed so it gets sick and dies. When we ingest it it also chelates especially Magnesium. GMO crops are engineered so we can spray pesticide directly on the food and it won't die. This is entirey different then farming in the 80's. Then they sprayed the weeds, tilled the soil, planted. Less exposure. Now we have soy and especially corn that is pesticide laden. These are the first 2 ingredients in most baby formula till about one year ago. Now you might think... I breast fed! Yes but think of what we ate when nursing, and then a majority of us wean to milk after the first year of life and our Milk supply was genetically altered in the early 90's.. Then we hit them with vaccines that their stressed out, mineral depleted bodies can't process. If you you graph this the correlation is scary. For those of us who are older you can add a layer of toxins from the plastic baby bottles and sippy cups. My friend is a Doula and foreigners who have an American surrogate won't allow American formula because the infant becomes immediately addicted to the HFCS and will not drink a different formula. Interesting...?
nicklemama
My sons doctor is no Steve Buhner but she also supplements where needed. DS was very low in ferritin. He was having sleeping issues, restless legs and constant fidgitiness, symptoms of low ferritin stores. For two years, no other doctor would address it. We started seeing her last Feb and when his ferritin was once again low, she began daily supplementation with a low dose, gentle iron. We also found ehrlichia and anaplasma. I asked her about supplementing with parasites. She said she has seen positive benefits of supplementing and he would struggle with getting well because your immune system needs iron for proper function. While he turned up negative for babesia, she felt he may have it because babesia uses iron. We started the supplementing and never looked back. He's done nothing but get better. Fast forward to Wed. At his appointment, I learned his ferritin is finally within the middle of normal limits and we are reducing the iron to twice a week. He is very close to 100% and it's taken four years to get here. We are savoring this for however long it lasts. You can supplement and it won't be the end of the world. That said, I would do it only under a doctors supervision. We've done blood testing every two months this year. She also said at his appointment, when you kill off bad gut bacteria, the body is better able to absorb minerals.
