cindylouwho Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Hi..I am new here. I recently read Sheila Rogers book about natural treatments for tic disorders. I am seeing one of the doctors mentioned in her book. About a week ago, I was tested for candida. Ever since that day, my tics have worsened. My eye blinks are very rapid, and it has been years since my eye blinks were this rapid. Is this caused by the candida testing? I am also receiving a shot once a week, and have been prescribed nystatin. I have an appointment tomorrow, and I will discuss this with the doctor. My eye blinks are starting to interfere with my daily activities. All my life I wanted to be cured of my disorder, and I need some reassurance that I am on the right track.
Chemar Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 hi Cindy i cant see where the candida test would cause tics...it was just a blood test right? the Nystatin may have an affect tho....also, remember that with candida, once you start treating it you have what is called a die off reaction to the toxins it releases when it does....you should be taking increased antioxidants and drinking lots of water. Epsom salts baths are helpful and so is acupuncture. I also recommend drinking a cup of hot pure lemon juice 3X day (i cup boiled water with jiuce of half a large lemon or one whole small lemon squeezed in) The hot lemon juice is really good for detoxing

I had an allergy test, where different molds and candida are injected into the top layer of the skin. A few hours after the test, the tics became worse. I just so worried right now. My eye blinks are still very rapid a week later.
Chemar Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Hi Cindy a skin test for candida is something new to me perhaps you are reacting to one of the allergens that were used in the test. Did you contact the doctor to report the reaction you are seeing? Did you have the first dose of nystatin the same day as the test? hope the eye blinking wanes quickly some people do find the amino acid L carnitine to be very helpful with eye tics (usually 500mg/day)

I called my doctor this afternoon, and he advised me to stop the nystatin for a few days. After a few days, he wants me to increase my dosage gradually. I don't think his office is use to treating tic disorders, so no one mentioned any side effects. I will try the L carnitine...thank you.
Guest Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 You said you had allergy testing done. My allergy doctor did a skin test for candida on me. However, it was to check for an allergy/sensitivity to candida not whether you have candida or not. You mentioned that you receive a shot once a week. Is this an allergy shot? Did your doctor relieve the symptoms with histamine? If I get a headache or something while I'm in the office getting allergy testing done the nurse will give me a shot of histamine to stop the reaction. In the beginning they sent histamine drops with me that I put under my tongue to stop reactions, but I don't use them anymore as I no longer need them. Actually there's sometimes I need them and wished I had them like yesterday when I messed up on my diet and had a McDonalds Double Cheeseburger, french fries, oreo mcflurry, a slice of pizza, and a brownie. I still have a headache today from that one. Carolyn
