Could somebody define verbal tics?

Recommended Posts

My ds has exhibited motoric driven tics, and yelled out like a bird in past, but never any rapid, over and over. Today, as if things cant get worse, he is making this squeaking sound over and over....it is not twenty times in a row, but it seems uncontrolled, I don't know, definitely repetitive....I just don't have any experience with tics in any big way....

Could somebody explain when I would consider this a true verbal tic?

I just cant believe this....

It sounds like a vocal tic. Ask your son if he feels a sensation and the sound makes it go away. This is called a premonitory urge.

For a good description of simple and complex motor and vocal tics:

Before the onset of motor or vocal tics, you'll likely experience an urge called a premonitory urge. A premonitory urge is an uncomfortable bodily sensation, such as an itch, a tingle or tension. Expression of the tic brings relief.

DD has displayed both simple and complex motor/vocal ticcing.

I always associate DD's ticcing with die-off, caused either by the immune system or abx, and the resulting build-up of toxins. As she is allowed to detox, ticcing resolves.

We ended up having to pulse tindamax for just that reason - she was unable to detox with continuous use and ticcing just kept getting worse and worse.
